College football season begins Thursday night after an off-season of big changes. Cam Rogers, the host of "Lock It In with Cam Rogers" at the Bleav Podcast Network joined Cheddar News to break down the upcoming season.

2022 College Football Season Kicks Off 

and turning now to the business of sports. This is exciting week one of the 2022 college football season kicking off with two games tonight. Several marquee games will also be played over the Labor Day weekend and they'll come after an offseason filled with conference realignment and other big changes that are expected to vastly reshape the few future of college football. So joining me now is cam Rogers sports betting analyst and host of lock it in for the Believe network, which is a sports and entertainment production company. CaM it's great to see you what are some of the week one games that you have your eye on both from a storyline standpoint and abetting standpoint. Hey Kristin, always great to be with you. Really excited about this college football season. Of course we have Tennessee in action here tonight. They are laying a ton of points in this game, 35 a half against Ball State. So from a betting perspective, I'm going with Ball State tonight plus 35 a half. The number is way too big for the first game of this college football season. So go ahead and lock that one in and some really interesting storylines overall here as we go forward through the Labor Day weekend kristen, I mean we're talking about Oregon taking on Georgia. Number 11 Ducks taking on number three. The bulldogs. The bulldogs of course are gunning for that defending championship title here this year. They're laying 17 points in that game against Oregon but don't sleep on the ducks. Of course they stunned Ohio State in the first game last year and that was a big reason why the buckeyes did not actually go to the college football playoff. So I think Georgia certainly has its hands full and the Notre dame and Ohio State as well. Really big matchups. Um, you know, there is some ironically as we're doing this segment cam, there is some college football songs playing behind me on the floor of the stock exchange. So something tells me someone might be ringing the bell to celebrate. But according to Allstate playoff predictor, Ohio State, the Ohio State is the favorite to win the college football playoff with Alabama coming in in a close second. Do you think any other school is gonna be able to challenge these two historical powerhouses? Yeah, here's the thing with college football kristen, it's a chalky sport. The favorites typically play well year in and year out. And a big reason why is of course recruiting these teams just reload every single year Alabama. Ohio State Clemson Georgia. So I think it's going to be a pretty chalky season here this year. In terms of the four college football playoff participants, of course. Last year we had Cincinnati out of nowhere make it into the final four. I don't think that's going to be the case here this year. I have Alabama in at number one Ohio State at number two Georgia at number three. And then Clemson at number four. Pretty chalky picks. I know, but that's how it goes sometimes in college football. I think it's Alabama versus Ohio State and championship game and I think Alabama gets another national title. Wow. So you're going for the underdog here cam. Well, according to draftkings sports book, Ohio State's CJ stroud is technically the betting favorite to win the Heisman trophy at the end of the season. Who do you think is going to win that? Can C. J. Take it home? And do you have any advice on Heisman related bets? Yeah. Speaking of chalk, typically you want to go with the quarterback or running back. Maybe a wide receiver in terms of a Heisman winner. But I'm getting out there. Kristin. All right. I'm going defensive side. Will Anderson is plus 400 to win the Heisman trophy. I think he gets it done. He's the first defender to win the Heisman since 1997. I was three years old. That was Charles Woodson way back when I think Will Anderson gets it done. He had 17.5 sacks last season. I think he can build upon that this season had 33 a half tackles for loss last year, 11.5 more than the second highest total in the nation last year. He's playing on the number one team likely to win the national title. So at 4 to 1 Will Anderson, the linebacker from Alabama to go ahead and get it done. All right. Finally here came conference realignment. A major story during the off season. And although most of the big changes are going to take place until 2024 and 2025. What do you make of these changes and how might they change college football this season and down the road? You know what, it's pretty surreal to see what we are seeing right now in college football. I think we're headed toward a situation kristen where we have this two headed monster of conferences, right? The Big 10 and the sec and then it's everybody else. So I see it as like this three tiered system sec in the Big 10 then the rest of the Power five. So that includes the pack 12 and the Big 12. And then the rest of the FBS which of course would be the group of five. So you know from a recruiting standpoint, from a money standpoint and honestly from a college football playoff standpoint, the sec in the Big 10 will be king because you have these massive blue blood programs going to these conferences and for the pac 12 and the Big 12, the A. C. C. It's going to be an uphill climb for them to really get good tv deals revenue and make the college football playoff. Okay, I'm rooting for the Wildcats. I'm a Northwestern alum cam.
