And more than 50,000 people ran the New York City marathon yesterday, covering 26.2 miles across New York City's five boroughs. Ethiopian runner, Tamara Tola finished first and broke the New York City marathon record this year with a race and time of two hours, four minutes and 58 seconds. That's pretty impressive. Tola pulled away from country mate, Jamal Yer during mile 20 of the race. Meanwhile, Kenyan runner Helen obey won the women's competition, pulling away in the final 400 m of the race and finishing in first place with the finish time of two hours, 27 minutes and 23 seconds. Men's wheelchair race winner, Marcel Hug nearly broke his record from last year, finishing in one hour, 25 minutes and 29 seconds.
