And as heat waves continue in parts of the world, it is now the hottest summer ever recorded by the European Union's Copernicus climate change service. That organization has been collecting data on weather since 1940. Copernicus says the global average temperature this summer was 16.77 degrees Celsius, which is about 62.19 °F. The previous high was set in August of 2019, but this beat it by 0.3 °C. Typically these records are broken by 100th of a degree. So yes, if you feel like it's been getting hotter, it definitely has.
