2023's Best DIY Halloween Costumes

Halloween is just around the corner. And if you're still trying to figure out the right costume, celebrity, fashion designers Byron Laws and Sheila Gray are here in studio to show us how to recreate some of the biggest pop culture moments of the year using items you already have in your closet guys. Welcome. So I'm gonna go, we're so happy to have you. We have so many beautiful models. So let's start this. You're both designers. You work with huge celebrities including Michelle Obama. What makes a great Halloween costume? You know what I think uh part of it is the culture, you know, the culture and what's out, what's hot is a lot of times what people like and just what you feel good about like what you, what you want, what you feel like it's, it's your chance to go be fan in Fantasy Land. Personality. Lean in and go for it, go for it. I love that. All right, let's start. Oh Wait, yeah. What are you guys dressed as before we start? So I am Sherlock. I love it. Sherlock. Homegirl and Watts. Brilliant and easy. I love that. And T shirt in your closet trench coat from your closet. Get a little cat, believe it or not. I own this. So I would own that too. That hat is fabulous. All right. So, let's start with the biggest movie of the year. Of course, we're talking Barbie model Genesis is here dressed as Barbie. I love this dress. Hi, Genesis. Tell us more about this costume guys. So, this is a easy D Diy. It's inspired by Barbie. Um, you know, every woman has that special dress, that sequin dress, maybe it's not sequin, but it's a colorful dress and we wanna wear it again and you can't wear it to that function. Well, guess what? You can wear it for Halloween and a lot cheaper than what the prices are coming up of costumes these days because they're 60 or more dollars for a lot of these costumes. But we actually did a little twin match here so that you're carrying Barbie as your, uh, or inspired Barbie. But in your little purse and, uh, she's twinning with her Barbie today, Genesis. You look beautiful. I should say Barbie. Thank you so much. I love the bee necklace as well. Yeah. Oh, that, yes. And that's easy to make little initial and I actually made that in like two minutes. All right, Byron, you're more of a goth. What are the elements needed to become Wednesday, Adams? Like our beautiful model Sierra. You are killing this look, Sierra all you need for Wednesday is a black dress, a black dress and one of your husband's old white shirts or boyfriend's old white shirt, one of your old white shirts, cut the collar and cuff off, tack them on. But a bing bada boo Wednesday. And there's a wig too. I know there is Sierra's hair. But if you don't have black hair or long enough hair, of course, just plop a wig on with a black dress and, and you can use an existing one you have because all you have to do is bright. It OK. All right. You look amazing Wednesday. Thank you, Gil. If your kids are like little model bliss, wanna look like Halle Bailey and the little mermaid. Come here. Bliss. You look adorable. What do you do for this? Adorable little so, so bliss here is like actually um we did like a a spandex fabric and if you have a legging, you can also do this and we use like a little tutu and some little clips for the hair that light up and just put them inside the clips uh inside the tutu pin them in there with some safety pins. We did uh a little style by UT and Little Sierra and she's, she's the best mermaid ever. She's ready to go into the water. Do you love your costume? You look amazing. Thank you so much. Bliss. All right, Byron. Next, we have a model sailor who's dressed like a sailor ta talk to me about this costume. Sailor's name is actually Sailor Adams. Ok. If you want irony there. And this is like if you have a pea coat in your closet, which most of which everybody does. That white jean from the summer, almost everybody has a striped T shirt. Get a sailor hat, throw it on there and all of a sudden you're like, ready for the high seas. Well, sailor, you look amazing. And finally, if you're up for a little bit of crafting, you can make this great serial killer costume. Ok. This is very clever. This is amazing because who doesn't love cereal? So we took that and Baron did a little twist on it. Cereal killer. Uh Yeah. RRR. And what this, how much is this gonna cost? 10 bucks? 10 bucks. You got it. 10 bucks. Get some plastic utensils, some wall mount tape, put on the shirt, stick the boxes on, stick the knives in the boxes and then get a little like a little glue in and just secure the boxes in and, and you got your costume, you got your costume and you're probably gonna be the most original one. I love it. You look great. And last, but not least we have cousin. It, I believe. Right. Yes. Hello, cousin. It. Ok. This cost is amazing. Talk to me about this. Ok, cousin. It really all you need is hair. Yeah, he had the greatest hair, right? And we took the sheer shirt and added some little uh plastic spiders. Like literally, this is the cheapest costume, but the greatest look guys. This is incredible. And what I love is it's inexpensive. Yes. All of you look amazing.
