Actor Craig Robinson Talks All About 'The Bad Guys'

Welcome back to Between Bells. Everyone you know our next guest from hit tv shows like oh, the office in Brooklyn 99. However you can hear him in the universal film, The Bad guys Better news sat down with actor Craig Robinson to discuss his newest film as well as his series Killing it on peacock. Take a look. You've done tons of voice work for movies like sausage party tv shows, like big mouth and american dad. So I'm curious what are some of the pros and the cons of acting with just your voice instead of your entire body. It's all pros, pros. You go in you and you use your entire body because you, you in there, there's no limits really. You're having a blast and, and uh, it's just you so you get to do all these different takes and different ways and try, you know, all these things. So it's a lot of fun actually. Yeah. The only time the only con would be not sometimes I never meet the actors that I work with. Well yeah, so we'll talk about that in a second because that's really interesting. You bring that up but I do want to talk to Bad guys, it's now available on digital and blu ray and the film includes other big names Sam Rockwell, Aquafina, we know as you mentioned voiceover work can be often a lonely experience. So did you even get the chance to physically work with any of them. No, I didn't. Uh, you know, I know Marc Maron for awhile because the comedy scene, uh, the rest of the crew. I think I still have one to meet but we all met during press. Oh my god, was that weird? Was that uncomfortable? Like what do you talk about? You're like, you're like how do we get a movie? And I never saw you. It was like a family coming together. It was cool. Now this movie is so funny. It's it's about for our viewers who don't know, it's about a group of infamous criminal animals who pretend to reform themselves and correct their ways. So craig, I'm curious what's one habit you would get rid of if you could of yours, one habit I would get rid of if I could. This is a family show, right? Whatever you want. Let me see, let me see, I would probably get rid of being late. I'd like to be on time for stuff. Well by the way for viewers at home you were on time for this. So that's already you're doing amazing so far right now. The film is based off a Children's book of the same name. If there was a Children's book about your life craig, what do you think it be called? Um you know I have a Children's book out called jake the fake dude. Really amazing. Yeah, yeah, so go ahead and check that one out. That's what it's called, I love it. Alright, so switching gears here, you also starting killing it on peacock, which just debuted the first season back in april you recently said an interview, which I thought was really interesting that that was the most challenging job you've ever had at the end of the day. Is that a good thing or a bad thing to have a really challenging job on peacock? Well, it only makes you better as an actor, but it was it was just a lot of uh physical and mental challenges. Uh you know, I got to learn sign language. That was that was a challenge. Uh We had hurricanes, we worked with animals, there was covid and Covid protocol. It was a lot going on doing those four months, but we made it through and you know, people have responded. So what what we do in the shadows also is returning for season four in july. You're so funny in that we met your character, the vampire hunter clawed back in season two after that mission. Didn't go exactly as planned. We haven't seen him since. But can you tell us if Kwan shows up in any new episodes because I loved your character in it. I love doing that show. And uh well we'll see what happens. I don't know, I can't I don't want to, you know, give away anything or not. Give away anything at all, you know, you know, so we'll see. But uh it's fun being a vampire hunter until the vampire. Yes, exactly. Um so you're coming to us from your office craig and in the past you prefer to yourself as a Youtube. Ologists. I'm only assuming you're coming to us where you watch a lot of Youtube videos. So I'm curious what are you watching right now on Youtube? I said I was a youtube biologist. Yes. Apparently you did one time. I that's the first time I heard that word. I must have been. I do watch a lot of youtube though. There's a guy named Sinful the P who is the man? He breaks things down. I don't know if he's for everybody, but he, it's very entertaining. Why do you love Youtube so much? What is it about Youtube that you love it so much because it's just you know with the A. D. H. D. You know take the deficit, you just go from thing to thing and it's something you can watch like a 10 minute podcast and then you know a few minutes to stand up here and then go over here and watch something, catch a trailer. So it's uh and then I'll go about my business, go about my day. Somebody else who is A. D. H. D. I also love me some Youtube also craig only for one more question.
