Actor Finn Jones Talks New Psychological Thriller and Which 'GOT' Character Needs A Spinoff

the new psychological horror thriller. The visitor arrives just in time for Halloween. Yeah. And the film follows a young couple, Mayan robert who moved into Maya's childhood home, but soon robert finds himself caught up in the family's terrifying past. And I sat down with the start of the visitor, Finn jones earlier this week to find out more. This looks scary. Guys take a look. All right, Finn I'm asking for a friend, I'm kidding, I'm asking for me. But how scary is this new film on a scale of 1 to 10? I think it depends what you consider scary to be. Um This isn't a traditional horror movie where there's lots of like blood and guts and there's not lots of like kind of jump out scary moments. It's more of a kind of psychological thriller where you're constantly guessing what's going on. There's a kind of like Stranger in a strange world narrative. I'd kind of associate it similar to movies like Rosemary's Baby or the Wicker Man, where it's more about kind of like a slow build up and kind of constantly trying to guess what's going on and it's kind of creepy as opposed to like scary, I guess. You know, fans of yours. No, you from Game of Thrones and the M. C. You now you're stepping into the psychological thriller world. What excited you the most about working on the visitor. Um I think there was a couple of things that really excited me. I really wanted to work with Blumhouse. I think they're a fantastic production company and have a great track record of really good movies also was really keen to work with Justin as well. I've seen Justin's previous work and he really elevates the genre beyond what is typically thought of as he has more of a kind of art house quality to his directing. Um And I also like the fact that it was more of a psychological thriller, there's a lot of really good character development and it's really, as from an acting standpoint, it's really fun to be able to get deeper into the psychology of the character as opposed to just kind of, you know, playing a two dimensional character if you weren't robert shoes and found old paintings of a person that looked just like you, what would you do in real life. I'd be really curious. I I think I would, I think I would be really curious and I'd probably do what robert did and I would seek out answers. Um yeah, I'd be, I'd be curious, kind of creepy, kind of weird, I agree. How does acting in these psychological thrillers compared to you watching them? Are you even a horror film fan? I am a horror fan? Yeah, I grew up on horror movies when I was like eight years old. I was watching the Evil Dead and Freddy Krueger movies and I was fascinated by watching things that I, I shouldn't be watching. I love Wes Craven's surfing in the Rainbow, that's one of my favorite movies and so I do really, really love the genre when it's done? Right. I think a lot of modern day horror movies tend to be a little bit lackluster and tend to kind of just fall back on, kind of typical like horror movie tropes. Whereas what really drew me to this movie is it, it felt like a lot of the horror movies I would watch when I grew up, which was a lot more intentional, had a lot more kind of artistic merit. Um and that's one of the reasons why I'm just excited for this film when I, when I watched it back, I was really proud with how Justin it had created, I think a movie that kind of transcended, you know, your usual horror movie stereotypes. Let's switch gears. Here we have to talk about House of the Dragon. Obviously you played Loris Terrell and Game of Thrones, Have you been watching the prequel at all? Yeah, I've been, I've been dipping in and out of it. I've watched the first couple of episodes, I think it's fantastic man. I think it's really wonderful to see that world on tv again and to see it from a different perspective. Um it's yeah, it's juicy, it's really, it's really juicy. I've been enjoying the parts of it that I have seen, I'm with you? I'm a fan, I love seeing those dragons, Is there a character from the game of Thrones world that you would like to see, have a spin off personally? Oh God, I mean they have to be alive I guess. Right? Slim pickens my character in the show. My favorite character in the show was always theon, Greyjoy Alfie Allen played him, I thought that was such a great performance by him and I think the character went through so many amazing like redemption arcs, like you hated him and then you kind of felt for him and it was a very complex character. Um but in terms of a spin off, yeah, I don't really know, I know that they're talking about doing a Jon snow spin off, which I think it'd be really interesting to kind of get back into that character. Honestly, I'd love to see the Tyrell's, I I don't, I always thought it would be cool my garden and kind of really see how they lived over there and flesh out that world. So you know, from a selfish standpoint it would be called to see a tyrell spin off. I'm with you, I'm very intrigued by the Tyrell's now before I let you go for newcomers to the game of Thrones universe, what's your advice to them? Oh man, make sure that you've got plenty of hours set aside to, to delve deep into that world because once you're in you get sucked in and I'd say you know, watch it with an open mind and hopefully you're not squeamish and don't get offended easy because it's pretty wild and thanks to Actor Finn jones, the visitors out now.
