Actors Chloë Grace Moretz & Jack Reynor Talk 'The Peripheral'

Welcome back to trending Prime video's newest series. The peripheral stars actress Chloe Grace Moretz and Jack Reynor set in the future where technology takes over society and how we live. The two main characters quickly discover the downside of their futuristic world and I sat down with Chloe Grace Moretz and Jack Reynor to talk all about the new series. Take a look so Chloe, you play Flynn, She has a lot clearly on her shoulders in this. So how would you describe your character to people? I play a young woman named Flynn Fisher. She lives in a small town north Carolina. You know, she's really never been able to leave that town or to get out of her circumstances that she's been living in. And one way that she loves to escape is to jump into virtual reality games and she has basically a gamer tag which is called Easy Ice and one day she has the opportunity to run some beta testing on a whole new device and when she puts the headset on she is transported to what she thinks is the most in depth game she's ever played. And soon we come to find that maybe what she's involved herself in is not so much a game but a whole different reality where she has to navigate her way through with her brother Burton. Yeah and Jack, let's talk about your character, you play Burton. Both he and Flynn don't seem to have a lot in the world other than each other and their broken family. So how would you sort of describe the dynamic between their lifestyle and this futuristic America that they're living in right now? You know, I think I think that that relationship you're right, it's really at the heart of the show and you know, and Burton just to give a little bit of background is an ex marine who was part of this sort of elite haptic recon unit. So he has these implants in his body um which give them like a shared situational awareness with the other guys and his team and that stuff all sort of comes into play later on. But yeah, you know, I think Flynn and Burton they are both doing their very best to make ends meet and they both you know really clearly value one another and you know, they're sort of just striving to get by through playing the sims and stuff together and they're trying to take care of their mother. So you know, it's a very relatable human story and and of course once this sort of futuristic London element comes into play, it just blows their whole life and their world open and it tests everything really about them as individuals and their relationship to. And so I think that that like I said that's kind of at the heart of the show and that's one of the sort of compelling elements. Khloe let's talk about these kinds of shows. I mean there have been tons of popular dystopian movies and tv shows out there? I mean what is it about these different worlds that you think draws audiences in. Why do we like them so much? Um I don't know, you know, I think, I think what makes our our show significant, I think in the in the genre is that no matter how far we go into the headiness of sci fi, we always come back home to Burton and Flynn Fisher and I think they're strong. Familial bond allows us to go to all the intricacies and the craziness that we find in futuristic London and trust them and and stay with them no matter what. So, you know, I think the world is expansive and it's it's exciting and I think William Gibson did an incredible job at creating a near future where the technology doesn't seem all that crazy. You know. It is things that are very tangible and quite frankly right around the corner for us in a almost haunting way. All right, Chloe. I know you're a big gamer, but do you actually play virtual reality games? I do play VR games. I actually had the very first like Oculus rift headset with, I had the Alienware pc set up with it and it was all tethered still before it went like Bluetooth and I used to my family up to the horror games and I was able to like survive in them because they were scary, but I could do it, but it really messes with your like your I don't know your entire equilibrium. Um, and so I used to put my mom in them and watch her scream sometimes, which was the funniest thing ever. All right. Thanks to actors Chloe Grace Moretz and Jack Reynor their new show.
