Actress and Singer Jane Birkin Dies at 76

The woman who inspired the world famous. Birkin bag has died at age 76. Jane Birkin was a British actress and a singer who lived in France since the sixties. It was after the chief executive of the luxury design company, Hermes saw Birkin struggling with the bag she was carrying on a flight that the now iconic and very, very expensive bag was created. The French Culture Ministry called Jane Birkin, a quote timeless Fran Fran icon. Birkin suffered a stroke in 2021 and was reportedly in poor health.
