Aireon Providing First Ever Global Traffic Surveillance Using Space- Based (ADS-B)

The U.S. will start testing air traffic control systems that use satellite surveillance in March. Canada and the UK worked with Virginia-based Aireon to use new GPS data to track planes- beginning last year. The new tracking system is expected to be faster and more accurate than radar ground stations, which have monitoring limitations such as over oceans.
