Alaska Airlines Pilot Arrested for Trying to Disable Engines

A Horizon Air flight operated by Alaska Airlines which was flying from Washington State to San Francisco was diverted to Portland yesterday after an incident in the air. According to a statement, an off duty pilot for the airline attempted to interfere with the engines but the crew successfully secured the plane and engine power was not lost. The off duty pilot was seated in the plane cockpit jump seat. Authorities have identified the pilot. It is 44 year old Joseph David Emerson. He is now in custody. Emerson has been charged with three counts of attempted murder. 83 counts of reckless endangerment and a count of endangering an aircraft. Both the FBI and the port of Portland.
