You can't teach an old dog new tricks, but you can get them cutting-edge new luxury pet technology. Link AKC's Herbie Calves joins Cheddar with his company's latest wearable pet technology. Link AKC just launched a new Alexa integration that, Calves says, will leave you more informed about your dog's health and activity level. The pet wearables market is expected to reach $2.4 billion by 2022. Calves says this upward trend is driven, in large part, by millennials who are more interested in smart technology. He says they seek out devices that can monitor their pets and provide real-time location and health updates. Finally, he gives us a live demo of the Link AKC app and all its features. He also tells us why the sector is so attractive to online shoppers. Calves says 8.2% of pet owners bought pet products online in 2015 (the most recent tracking period) with that amount expected to increase to 20% in the next few years.
