Autonomous technology may not be mainstream yet, but insurance and asset management company Allianz is getting ahead of the game by studying liability for the emerging technology ー specifically for autonomous aircraft and taxis. James Van Meter, North American head of aviation, said the new technology will represent a major shift in who takes responsible for accidents. "As soon as we get into autonomous and semi-autonomous aircraft, just like driverless cars, we could see a significant shift in liability from operator to manufacturer," Van Meter told Cheddar.
