Amazon Releases New Documentary 'Post Malone: Runaway' 

the one hour music project follows post Malone's 2019 runway tour which marked a pivotal moment in the evolution of his career at the documentary was filmed just before Covid and it features unforgettable backstage access and also a closer look at post Malone's world. Look at this. He was always kind of an exception. Always creative been able to be who he is since he was two, he was surrounded by people every single second of every day. Sometimes I feel like I'm not a real person. I'm a goofy kid. I like to have fun. But it's awesome that people still want to hear what's next. The evolution of everything joining us now discusses Hector, doctoral creator and director of post Malone runaway. Welcome to the show Hector. This dock is being high. So this dot has been so well received by fans. Walk us through the films inception and what made you decide to do this in the first place? I guess. Like we wanted to just capture post Malone's uh, I guess the spirit of post Malone, you know, and kind of not only that, but I guess give the fans some kind of insight behind the music and kind of what being on the road with one of the biggest stars in the world. It's like, yeah, Hector. I mean, we see a lot of these documentaries out there following artists on tour Justin Bieber the weekend just to name a few. What sort of creative approach did you want to take when you created this? And did you reference any of those others as inspiration here. That was a real, like the kind of creative approach behind it was to like, I guess Mirror Post Malone's music. The guy's a polymath in music and he kind of just splits between genre and he, I guess he could do it all. And I guess like our approach to it was to kind of imply the same look to that. As you can see. We kind of moved from kind of multi cam and different formats and that kind of like chaotic but kind of organized chaos. It was kind of what we wanted to bring to it. So yeah, it's kind of just like, I guess that reflect his music, visually. So many stars in the, in the dock to post Malone performed on a stage that was more like a runway. He was basically a one man show during this tour. Quite amazing to see what was the process, like most nights to pull this off because you mentioned organized chaos and it certainly sounds like it I guess like, well, so I kind of cell shock majority of it apart from some of the multi com stuff like this show stuff virtually shot the whole thing. So it was tiring. But it was a lot of running around arenas and kind of yeah, having to like learn the layout of stadiums, arenas and yeah, it was tiring. For sure. Okay, so Hector. I mean obviously we get a really good inside look at his life on tour. Was there anything maybe that surprised you about him when you filmed this? I mean, the guy just, I guess the guy continues to surprise the world every day. You know, like he's continually devolved, developing his sound and he's evolving as an artist and I guess, yeah, on tour, just like kind of unpick and unpack kind of who he is as an artist um, was massively surprising. You know, the guy is trailblazing and he kind of can't be stopped. And I think like his music, I think Alicia Keys says in the doc, you know, like he, uh, I'm surprised the time releases a new song. I'm surprised it's him again. And I think that's kind of a testament. Kind of where he's going. I'm surprised he didn't, you didn't say how many crocs he brings on tour with him. I'm sure there's a huge collection. We have to talk about one weight. You're going to say something about his crop collection. Have you seen? I mean, he's got, I mean, we have to talk about the scene that so many people are talking about when post Malone meets his rock idol, Ozzy Osborne. What was it like to witness that moment? How did you want to capture it when directing this? I mean that that was just like, yeah, I mean, it was phenomenal, Really you're kind of watching in real time. It was watching like two generations kind of their worlds come together, which is like a real, it's a rare moment. So like I guess, yeah, we kind of wanted to capture in an honest moment possible. And as you can see they're, they're meeting for the first time. It's just something that I guess that will never happen again and you're watching too low, right come together from two different generations and that in itself is just kind of spectacle to look at. It was pretty small. Post Malone clearly ahead of his time has really turned the game upside down with his music. I mean Hector, what do you think it is about him that makes him so loved by fans and artists out here, His authenticity and he just genuinely is the nicest guy on one of the nicest guys I've met hands down the guy you see on camera and the guy you see on stage is the guy that will be in front of you. Like he's, yeah, he's one of the most genuine artists out there and I think that really does come through and I think that he's relatable and I think, yeah, people in our own fans just find it easy to connect with him. So Hector hearing his going to his shows every night, hearing his songs night after night. Do you have a favorite post Malone song? My favorite song, which actually isn't in the dock is, um, is so bad and I've forgotten the name of it. But you know what, in fact, I've got to say it's Rockstar Good song. The song is massive and I think, yeah, it speaks for itself. That song is just like, yeah, every single night. It had the same impact on myself and the whole crew and the fans. It's just the song is huge. I love That's a good song. Good pick if. Yeah, I mean there's 1000 to pick from. I mean it's a good one to choose. Well, we can't wait to watch.
