Amazon’s controversial Sidewalk feature is up and running. The system allows Amazon products like Echo and Ring to share WiFi connections when there is a weak signal or none at all. Ian Sherr, editor at large at CNET, explained that while it doesn't necessarily open one up to WiFi stealing between neighbors, the feature might have been better received if the company asked customers permission, if they allowed customers to opt-in as opposed to being forced to opt-out, and if there weren't other security considerations.
