What California's New Gig Economy Law Means for Companies Like Uber, Postmates
Right before the law known as AB5 was set to go into effect New Year's Day, a federal judge issued a restraining order, essentially blocking the law from being enforced on 70,000 independent truck drivers. This is just the latest hurdle for the gig economy law that reclassifies gig workers as employees instead of independent contractors. Earlier this week, Uber, Lyft and other delivery companies like Postmates sued the Golden State. Roger Cheng, Executive Editor and head of CNET News, joined Cheddar to discuss.

Uber Announces Policy Change in California to Comply with AB5 Law
Uber is changing its policy in California in response to the newly enacted gig economy law. The rides-hare giant sent an email to riders in the state telling them prices will now be estimates, not fixed fares, when ordering rides. Sarah Holder, Staff Writer at CityLab joined Cheddar to discuss.
