New checking and savings account data show that Americans have 10 to 15% more in their bank accounts than they did in 2019. While median bank accounts are at their lowest levels in three years indicating that people might be spending that extra cash. In fact, it's a 41% drop from its peak in April of 2021 when Americans receive their tax returns in addition to government stimulus money. Well, the data which looked at 9 million chase bank customers shows that the US economy has been able to avoid a recession as consumers are still able to spend despite persistent inflation.
