Get your weather in your neck of the woods. Jen news has got you covered with your coast to coast forecast. I'm meteorologist, Samantha Giri. And this is your latest cheddar weather update. Ok. Today we are tracking a round of severe weather again this time, parts of Wyoming to South Dakota and Nebraska, you had some of that big hail in parts of Colorado and now this threat is slowly tracking north and east. We're talking about super south thunderstorms that could bring a couple tornadoes, the damaging winds and the large hail and you can see that bull's eye here also some strong to severe weather possibly pushing into parts of the Midwest. So later today into tonight, we're watching those storms develop and you can see the bright colors here popping up. This threat is eventually going to track into parts of the Great Lakes region as we head into the start of your weekend. We're watching all that wet weather still along the east coast. These showers and storms just won't let up with this stalled out weather system and we are going to get some of that rain to push into places like upstate New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine Saturday to Sunday. You still see that threat of severe weather. They're now moving into Minnesota eventually, Wisconsin, parts of Michigan as well with showers continuing along the east coast. So not the best beach weekend. It's going to be a little bit rough and wet on the water, but the Midwest here getting a nice break, especially parts of the southwest. We're going to see that sunshine. Of course, the heat will be on Monday to Tuesday early next week. Guess what? It's still raining just offshore here along the east coast and around the northeast. So now we're going to be stuck in that unsettled weather pattern. Parts of the northwest looking nice. We'll get you some of that sunshine today. 69 to Detroit, warming up in Washington DC at 79 degrees. The heat is on Houston, 96 95 in Dallas and around Florida temperatures topping out in the nineties. It's hot, it's humid. We have those pop up showers and storms for you in the afternoon. Looking great in Seattle. 80 degrees and sunny. Nice for you. Salt Lake City a little bit of a breeze. 82 watching those severe storms later on near rapid City, temperatures topping out in the seventies. And our thanks to Samantha A for that weather report. And if you're here in New York City celebrating pride this weekend, scattered thunderstorms most of the weekend gonna be overcast but no rain on this parade. No, there's also gonna be a big air show where the Blue angels are gonna be flying over the city but may have rained out. All right. Meanwhile, Will and Grace first aired back uh in September 1998 and to mark the classic sitcoms 25th anniversary, the Paley Center here in New York holding an immersive exhibit. Our Michelle Castillo took a look at it, take a trip to 155 Riverside Drive and say hello again to Jack Karen and of course, Will and Grace the Paley Museum put together this Will and Grace exhibit in honor of the show's 25th anniversary, as well as to celebrate Pride Month. A gender party is a curious thing. It's a girl. You really experience the whole show through the costumes and the props and the artifacts that we have. I know the show is called Will and Grace, but it isn't complete without the four of them. So you of course, have Karen and Jack over here. Yes. And they had such great fashions. And so you have to always look at Karen and Jack to get the full chemistry of the show. This exhibit features iconic items like the bedazzled telephone from the first episode and costumes from the newest seasons, an interactive quiz even test your knowledge of Will and Grace. Who is Jack's Idol. Oh, that's easy. It's obviously Cher and you can't forget and right around the corner you have the couch from Li and Grace's Apartment so much comedy and action took place on this couch. Why do you think the show still resonates with people? Even though it actually premiered in 1998? The show really is about friendship and it's really, really funny and friendship and humor never go out of style. This show might have been the first LGBTQ Plus TV show that many people have seen. How do you think that helped the understanding of the LGBTQ Plus? Well, certainly when you have the vice president of the United States, Joe Biden, go on meet the press and say it was will and Grace that really brought an acceptance and awareness of the gay community, I think will and Grace probably did more to educate the American public than almost anything anybody's ever done so far. That was extremely important. And certainly this program hope the understanding of marriage equality. It's inspired generations to celebrate our quirks and differences for Cheddar news. Coming up my conversation with one of the pioneers in the movement for the LGBT Q rights, a legendary activist who was on the ground during Stonewall. That interview is next. Welcome back to Cheddar's need to know news show. Uh That's Shannon Lah, I'm Baker Machado and all month Long Cheddar news has been shining a light on LGBT Q trail trail blazers within the community. And I recently sat down with Randy Wicker, a pioneer in the movement for LGBT Q rights who's serving as the grand marshal this weekend at the New York City Pride Parade. And Randy was there as the first pride march in history happened. And he also was roommates with Marsha P Johnson, the legendary trans activist. Now, 85 years young Randy told me what life was like when he first became an activist. Take a look. So in 1958 I joined the movement. And on, we were at that time, criminals in every state except Illinois. Psychiatrists had homosexuality as a, as a diagnosis of illness, mental illness that we were mentally ill. Also, like I said, we were, I don't think people even use the word homosexual. We were just perverts. Vivian were perverts. Perverts devis. I, that's a, that's a progression from perverts. A group of very religious, devout people. I tried to have WBAIS license revoked because of that interview. Yes, because I don't you rwp, I put perverts on the air, the nerve perverts, you know what perverts are like. But then the uh American Broadcasting Commission, which is your license ruled homosexuality is a legitimate issue for public up to public discussion on radio and TV. So by making that declaration, suddenly every TV and radio station everywhere, I flew to Chicago twice to be in the cups in it show because there wasn't another homosexual sex and ready to go on. And so that was you. That was me. I was the spokesman of the gay movement from about 1962 to about 1965. I also was the first one to publicly demonstrate. I wanna talk about the person on your shirt because obviously Marsha is an incredibly significant person in the gay liberation movement. What do you think Marsha would say about what's happening now with all of these anti trans bills that are being passed all over the country right now? Just sort of where things are at right now in the country. I'm gonna tell you a story which may sound strange. I had a, I had an art deco lighting shop and when Marshall was living with me, I started it in 1974 and closed in 2003. And I had an employee working in the back who was very bigoted. He every Jew was a k every black was an N I was looking for sympathy. Come on, Marsha is black, right? So when you, and what would you do, what would you think any black person, don't you think she'd give me some support in my living room privately? Right? What did she do? She said, well, this is what? So this is why she's a saint. Well, Randy, there are a lot of people that way. So Marsha, we never get violent with anyone. That's why she's a living saint. What do you say to so much of the LGBT Q youth right now who feels attacked and threatened? You feel in many ways history is repeating itself in many ways. Yes. But don't make the mistake of being tricked into violent. I, I'm probably gonna have half the people hating me for this. But you were against the violence in Stonewall. Yes, I was. But I also think that it was bad behavior to do the dance showing their on the White House lawn recently. So that's the kind of thing you think I should get angry. You don't wanna let them trick you because that is all the issue of 2024 is gonna be misunderstandings and hysteria about trans people over the course of your whole life. I'm curious, what has the, what is pride meant to you? I know it's sort of a complex. I was, I was at the very pride march when we started off. We thought, oh God, when we go north of 14th Street, we might get attacked. We were only a few 100 people all my life. We had dreamed if we just could have a mass movement, there's so many gay people people only knew and I look back at some point, I been going up Seventh Avenue or Fifth Avenue. I look back and so far as I could see, there were people we had had thousands of people and they broke into the sheep's meadow and we had a party that is the way you have to make people enjoy. You make people love you, Randy as someone who is able to live openly, who is married, who gets to partake in all these beautiful things that people like you have fought and, and, and been activists for, for your entire life. I have so much profound. Thanks for everything that you have done. What an interesting conversation on this pride weekend with trouble blazing activist, 85 year old Randy wicker. All right guys time now for our morning tea and look at some of the entertainment and celebrity stories making some news this morning and just like that, the reviews are in for the second season of Max and Max is just like that. The second season, the series dropped yesterday. Fans caught up with the latest from Carrie Miranda in Charlotte. And this season, the premiere was given four stars by the Guardian calling it a lavish ridiculous and hilarious meme fest. The New York Post is saying that the second season bringing the sex part back to sex in the city. The fans online went wild when one of the famous outfits that Carrie was seen wearing again, her Vivian Westwood wedding gown was back and if you recall, she wore it when she got stood up by big in the very first film. Now, it's also worth noting Kim Cattrall's new show debuted on Netflix yesterday. It's called Glamorous. But we do know Shannon Kim Cattrall making a cameo. Reportedly, she filmed it in a garage at the end. It's going to be airing at the very end of this season of just like that because we know that there's been this feud between Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cat. So they didn't even film it in the same vicinity. I had to film it somewhere else. At least fans will get a chance to see here. They'll be happy for that. And they were tweeting about it all night last night they were talking about this and posting pictures. So I feel like this show, even though I, I think it's going to do well, ratings wise, I feel like it is the show, most people like to hate watch, they love it, but they also watch it because they're like, oh my God, I can't believe this is happening. I'll watch it just for the Co Ari Parker, so I'll be watching it. All right guys.
