We're getting new iPhones, new AirPod Pros, and new Apple Watches for our holiday wish list. Apple Unveils Upcoming Tech at 'Far Out' Event

Welcome back to twitter's news, you're after everyone. Apple just concluded its latest far out event and we have a whole slew of new products to talk about as people expected. We're getting new iphones, new airpods, pros, new apple watches for our wish list. Here's a sneak peek at Apple. We're fortunate to be surrounded by people who strive to innovate together to create products and experiences that enrich people's lives products that are intuitive and easy to use that have a unique integration of hardware and software and that are incredibly personal. Today we're here to talk about three products that have become essential in our lives joining me now airpods joining me now to discuss everything you need to know from the event is our good friend john Schwartz, senior reporter at Market Watch, john great to see you. All right, let's talk about this. What details can you share about the latest iphone, what new features will we be seeing And you know me, I'm always worried about the price point. Yeah, you should be. They're kind of expensive. So we look at, let's look at the top of the line, the top of the line, we have the iphone 14 pro which is 9 99 the iphone 14 pro max, which is 1100 bucks. Um, so in the case of these two at the high end, they're not as expensive as some people here, they might be. Um they do some incremental things, but they also do some really cool things in fairness Apple because Apple does get a bum rap for being the incrementalist rather than the innovators and their events. So the cool stuff first is there's a something called a dynamic islands which is kind of this rectangular space at the top of your phone kind of bubbles at the top of your phone for updates and alerts and things you're looking at. Like if you want to continue to watch a score from a baseball game, it will stay up there. You don't have to toggle between the score and the other apps you're looking at. They'll tell you things like charging status, uh list status etcetera. Okay there's that and there's something called crash detection. So in the unfortunate event if you're in a car crash or if you're debilitated in some way your card you can't reach your phone. The phone will detect that there has been an accident and it will automatically call emergency services. Now in addition to that we've got the usual colors including deep purple, which some people really like with this top of the line of course there's always the ubiquitous better camera, um longer battery life etcetera. Then we take a step down to the iphone 14 which is 7 99 and the iphone 14 plus which is 8 99. This is essentially the big the big selling point on this is the emergency S. O. S. Via satellites which is free for two years in the US and Canada starting in november. So from anywhere regardless of the coverage. You can beam up for S. O. S service via satellite. Apple says it's been working on this for years, which seems pretty, pretty incredible. Um so that's, that's the takeaway from that. And again with these, these all day battery life, larger sensor on the camera's autofocus for the first time. You know, there's the usual list of things that consumers want an Apple delivers so they keep buying it right? But you mentioned price, I guess that might lead to the next thing. Right? Yes, that's what I was gonna ask, you know me so well john because you mentioned some of the prices there are cheaper. They are, this version is cheaper than some of the other versions in past years but with so many families kind of tightening their budgets, do you think customers will be willing to pay for this expensive and more advanced tech? So you're right. So there's polling out, there's been a lot of pulling out including some that we looked at about vanity purchases or just expensive purchases and a lot of people like 56% have grave doubts about spending that much money on something like this now in Apple's favor at least according to Wedbush securities analyst dan Ives, there are Two things in his favor, one that the prices in his highest feared. So he believes the initial order for 90 million iPhone 14 units is actually gonna stick. And the other thing that he mentions is that nearly 1/4 of all iPhone users worldwide have not upgraded their phones in more than 3.5 years. So there could be that but you make a very good point and I totally agree this, this whole inflation belt tightening. I mean it's, it's happening at the companies themselves, right? Like the biggest tech companies are cutting back. I mean not just just Apple is looking at doing some cutbacks, google, they're producing their spending. So you think their customers are going to fall in line and do the same thing or they're gonna make these extravagant purchases? I don't know. We'll find out in a couple of months speaking about extravagant, we have to talk about the new Apple watch. I'm addicted to mind, john so I'm not judging but tell us about it. How does it compare to the current model? Who is this ultra watch geared towards? I guess if you're somebody who is into rugged adventurism and you like diving into water, smashing your, your phone against cliffs while you're climbing them. I guess there's a redesigned as a titanium case. There's an international orange action button on the side of it which is kind of interesting. There's a second speaker, a special bandits, it's described as rugged. Apple said this repeatedly so you can take a beating and keep on ticking. Like that will settle that for the, for the watches. It's 7 99. Right? So that is really priceless extremely pricey three times over normal, normally paid board. I was gonna say that is very expensive. We have talked about the airpods, we know that line is proven to be one of Apple's bigger breakout success in recent years. What do we know about the latest air pod pros? Do you think they'll be just as big of success as the previous models? I think they will So up to six hours of listening time, there's something called, it's kind of this, this outside noise cancelation feature. So essentially, if you're walking by a guy working on a jackhammer construction, it's going to cancel that noise out while you're listening to your products pro it's kind of interesting. There's a personalized spatial audio feature. So I think that would probably do extremely well since it doesn't cost you, you know, hundreds and hundreds of dollars, you're right. I mean apples charges a premium. They usually can get away with it. But I think during these economic times, I think it'll be an interesting test case to see if they succeed despite what's going on all around us, john I have less than a minute. But I want to ask how do you think today's event and Apple's announcement will impact investors outlook for the remaining fiscal year. I think there will be, uh, they will be pleased. I think one thing that was missing was the headset announcement, which probably won't come until the end of the year. That would have probably moved the needle because Apple is going to get into the metaverse or mixed reality and they're gonna go after meta, which is announcing its own headset on october 11th. That's gonna be really interesting. Apple needs to do something I think just outside the realm of the safety zone of iphone and Apple services and people watch the show. No, I love my Oculus.
