Baby Formula Crisis: How the Defense Act will help

you know by now some consumers are just used to their favorite items being out of stock occasionally that's just par for the course and our post covid world. But the shortage of baby formula is reaching new alarming heights. Check out how a new act will speed up delivery. The baby formula crisis has hit a new level of concern. Now President Biden is taking action in February. A facility that produces 40% of the baby formula in the US was shut down for contamination leading to bare shelves in supermarkets across the country. As of May eight, the nationwide out of stock percentage reached 43%. So in an effort to speed up production, President biden launched the Defense Production Act. It requires formula suppliers to fulfill orders from US companies before other customers. But the act is going one step further to provide more immediate relief under operation Fly Formula. Commercial airliners will be used to import formula supplies that meet federal standards from overseas. Yeah. Mhm. Now, while the situation is dire right now, experts warn, parents should not try to make their own formula at home. That's so important, they not try that. And the White House is in the process of identifying overseas supply a formula that meets US standards, imports of baby formula will serve as a bridge until the U. S. Production is ramping up
