Be Well: Amazon Books Unveils Best Reads of the Year

And sometimes there is nothing better than relaxing on the beach with a good book, but there are so many titles out there. It can be hard to decide which book to pick next. Well, luckily the editors at Amazon took the guest work out for us and they've read through thousands of books to pick their favorites to help us find the next great read. Amazon recently announced its picks for 2020 three's best books of the year so far. So here to tell us more is senior editor of Amazon books, Lindsay Powers. Thanks so much for being with us and for bringing so many great read. Thank you so much for having me. I'm so excited to talk about our best books of the year so far. So let's start with. Hello. Beautiful. Ok. So hello. Beautiful by Anne Napolitano. Is this big emotional family story. Um It's been a best seller. You probably have seen a lot of people carrying it around this summer on the beach and no wonder it's so great. So it's about four sisters in Chicago. Um The families we build, the families we born were born into kind of the drama. There's also a male character William in it. Um who gets between the sisters but not in the way you would expect like that basketball subplot. That's so good that this book would be perfect for any reader that, you know, ok, like family drama, especially when it's not. I was gonna say as long as now I'm excited about this. I've been hearing a lot about King. Yeah. So Jonathan S King is biography at its best. And don't let the 700 pages scare you off. You will fly through it. This is beyond what you've learned in history. You are in the room when some of the most important civil rights movement uh as it's happening also, what I think is so fascinating about this book is that Martin Luther King, Jr is painted as a real man, right? Like he's obviously heroic, but he had doubts and anxieties and wasn't always sure he was the right person to be stepping up in a certain situation. So it maybe makes you think, huh? Like I could step up and make, make a difference. Uh You, you'd be inspired that maybe you could make changes, big and small. All right. So this is gonna help us live longer. So this is outlived by Dr Peter Atia. Literally bring this to your doctor's office as we're living longer. It's about living better, right? You want to travel after you, you've retired, you want to pick up your grandkids and it's not click bait health news, right. This, uh, book will tell you how to ward off and prevent what he calls the Four Horsemen of Aging, which is diabetes, cancer, heart disease, and Alzheimer's. And we'll give you like very concrete tips whether it's taking how to take care of your mental health. Uh, the weights you should lift. It's very doable and we keep it healthy. All right. Last one, I'm trying to understand all these other stories. So how can I help? Well, this book is the perfect thing as a millennial as well. So, Doctor Jean Twenge is a psychology professor and she examines data from more than 39 million people and proves that the year you were born is more important than the family you were born into. Wow. Um She also 2023 of course, is the best year to be born. You're past the worst of the pandemic. You're um able to take advantage of all the technology that's happening right now. And there will be more regulations for social media in place by the time you're old enough to know, right. So many great picks. Thank you so much. This is really great.
