Our first guest shot to fame starring on shows like Freaks and Geeks. Dawson's Creek and Cougar Town. Busy Phillips has since launched a podcast that's so relatable, tackling everything from burnout to binge, watching to the stress of buying Taylor Swift tickets. And now she is working to better connect kids and parents during playtime. So busy Phillips is with us right now. We thank you so much for being here. Thanks for having me. So we first have to talk about the stress of getting Taylor Swift tickets, the worst, the worst stress of my life. Um My kid's dad and I spent hours on the computer that day. Right? And you just kept waiting for it to go and you're looking and you're like, please don't kick me off. Oh my gosh, I was in the waiting room. I had the tickets in my car. The code didn't work. I was like, I mean, the things we do for our Children, you know. But uh luckily we did get another chance, we got an email, you know, like the verified fans, second chance email and so we were able to get tickets. And what was that like to share that, like with your, with your daughter. I didn't share with her how annoying it was when we didn't get tickets. Um, you know, what is really special? I think as my kids get older, finding new ways to connect with them on the things that they like is really important and, you know, the truth is like, I, maybe for whatever reason I just never really listened to Taylor Swift until my older daughter, Bertie became a huge fan. And then it's now a really nice thing that we share. Now is cricket also a fan. Yes, but not like birding, birdie. Ok. Now how do you balance having, you know, kids and trying to do all the things? I, I don't, I don't know if it's possible to balance some of the things. That's what I think it's like just managing the imbalance. Yeah. And I think trying to give yourself grace and, you know, allow yourself like moments of the understanding that you're not gonna nail it every day. And um and that, you know, like almost no men get asked, how do you balance it? All right. Right. Like, well, but you are a cool mom in real life. I don't think my kids think I'm a cool mom. Right. Isn't that weird? I, I can attest to the fact that it's tough. Yeah, I mean, I definitely am a cool mom but I don't think that they'll be able to acknowledge that until they're, you know, adults, right? They'll look back on those moments and really say, like, wow, that was awesome. And I know you're doing a partnership now where you're really trying to help parents connect with their kids. Talk to me about it. Well, you know, specifically with my 10 year old, um, cricket, she's really into like, the metaverse and gaming. And I, like I said, I think it's really important to connect with your kids in terms of like the things they're interested in. But the truth is like, I can't even figure out those games. I, I tried, I, I really did try to learn how to play them so that we could play together. Um But then Baby Bell, which is like, I, I have loved Baby Belle for so long and have worked with them in the past. Um because I literally eat that cheese every day. Um reached out because they've done sort of a redo of the classic Candy Land game. Um But it's called Baby Belle Goodness Land. And uh and it's just, it's so fun cricket and I've been playing it, you know, introducing your kids to the kind of games you played, especially like the board games. I think it's nostalgic for me, but she really likes it and also like time together is time together, you know.
