Be Well: DIY Fall Floral Box

OK. Take a look at this. This is the finished product, but we're actually going to make this right now. All right, Sam, you are the Diy Huntress and you can make this in minutes. So this is a really fun project. It really is only gonna take probably a few minutes to do, which is cool. And I think one of the best parts is after the summer and doing a lot of projects, some people have a lot of leftovers lumber, so you can make this entirely with scrap wood. Ok. Yeah. So if you already have this wood in your house, you don't need to spend a single dollar on this project actually, which is so great. Yeah. Ok. So now how, what kind of materials do we need? So, obviously, the wood. So we have the wood here and then we're also going to be using a nailer for this project, although you could use a screw gun if you don't have a nailer. And if you don't have either one of those, you actually could just glue them box together and clamp it, which is also really easy. But for our purposes, we're gonna use a nailer. We're gonna use some stain, some glue and I have a little secret sauce for making the wood look aged like it's been sitting around for a while. So I use a torch for that. We're gonna get there in a second. OK. OK. All right. So what's step one? OK. So step one is cutting all of your pieces. There is no right answer for this. You can make it as big, as small as you want, depending on the wood that you have, which makes it a really fun beginner project because it starts, it starts small. Yeah, exactly. So I've already pre cut the wood pieces to make life a little easier. Thank you. I appreciate that. No problem. And what we're gonna do is we're just gonna start assembling some stuff, right? So I'm gonna take these side pieces first, which are the small pieces. Do you want me to hold that piece? And then what I like to do is add a little bit of wood glue because I just think it makes life a little easier if you want to add some glue to that one. How did you know the right height to do the glue? No. Right answer. I promise you're good. I promise wrong answer. I'm gonna pick it. No, no, no, you're good. That's totally fine. We can always clean that up and just course mine needs to be. No, you're good. All right. So once this is here. We're gonna just pop some nails into there. I do want to note that you're wearing. Yes, I put my, I did put my safety glasses on. OK. So now the nails are set. Yep. And what's the next thing? All right. So, because these nails are set, now we're gonna flip this over. OK? And now we're gonna add the sides. So, same thing. So we're gonna add some glue. The glue just makes everything nice and strong. Another cool thing I like about this project is because it's rusted. You don't really have to worry too, too much if things don't line up perfectly, I'm gonna show you a little fix for that in a second. So we nail that in and again, if you don't have a nailer, another thing that you can do with this project is just use screws. It's, it's one of those where it's that easy flip this around two tap you in. Wow, you're a pro, you're hired. OK. And now I'm gonna show you my favorite trick for making this look a little rustic. OK. So, right now, this looks like new wood, right? So, what we're gonna do is I'm gonna take my torch and then I'm gonna have you try it as well. We're gonna be good. I'm scared. We're gonna start it and just run it along the box. Now, how come that's not going on fire? So this is just torching the surface of the wood? If you hold it long enough it will go on. But by just lightly torching the surface you're gonna make a nice rustic look. I love the way it looks already. I guess. I don't think I've ever done. Is this button? You sure you got it? I'm gonna push this and then run along the box. Got a little closer. Ok. There you go. Oh, my gosh. Oh, there is. I know. Wow. Ok. I feel like I should give it back to you, but it's really fun. I know. It is a lot of fun. And again, same thing, like no, there's no right answer here. You just have fun with it. And then I would do this all over, all over. Yep. And then whenever you're ready, what the other thing that you can do is you can wipe some stain on here as well. And then the charring, plus the stain will give you a nice rustic glove.
