Be Well: Fall Floral Arrangements

Karina City blossom has some amazing flowers here. It's just beautiful when you step into this place. But today we wanna focus on making a fall flower arrangement. So what are some tips you can give us? Sure. Uh Fall is one of my favorite times for flowers. Um The colors kind of mimic uh fall leaves. So oranges, burgundy yellow and you really wanna contrast a light and dark. Um You know, there's brighter things you can do with yellows and whites, more kind of what we call moody. Fall like a darker, more Halloweenish look, but it's still got some class and yes, absolutely. And texture is very important. Um Like for example, this is a very interesting fall flower. It kind of looks like a brain it's called uh and then you have of course, the gorgeous dali and the different contrasts and textures is what makes fall. So whether it's the flowers or a vase, something like this is like birch. So when you're using textures of wood, um kind of brings you back to that woodsy fall feeling. Ok. I'm gonna try to start on some beginning aspects of what a bouquet would take to So, yeah, absolutely. So the first thing you want to invest and most people have is a good gardening shears. These, you can get them to Home Depot don't use scissors unless they're very sharp. Uh And just be very careful. Obviously, um, we always want to start with larger flowers and you always want to put them on an angle because that's going to create that round shape. The hardest thing for people to figure out like you take this long sunflower and where do you cut it? You know the length. So the trick, the trick is you measure the stem and kind of place this um with your hand where you want it to go make like a visual mark and then you just kind of cut it on an angle. You wanna try. Yeah. And I'm gonna cut it on an angle. So like I like this. Yes. The reason we cut it on an angle is because it creates more um surface area for the stem. So it will stay fresher longer. Now when I put this in, I put it at an angle, like not straight up and down, straight up at an angle and a little bit. Yes, perfect. Look at that and then you basically keep going. You want to start with the brain. The coco Yeah. Yeah. There we go. So the same thing also, you wanna clean all the leaves. So always. Yes, just peel them off any time you're designing. We always want to have a clean stem because again, it's gonna uh look neat or you can leave the top one. It's not a big deal because they drink the water from the stone. Now, where would you say is a good place to put all of these flowers that we're decorating. So it depends, you have to think of the space you're decorating. So if it's a long table for Thanksgiving, for example, you want something longer, you want something always low, that's not gonna, you know, block people from seeing each other across the table. So the first step is to be mindful of the space and what you're gonna be doing in that space if it's a kitchen counter or maybe something taller, so it stands out. I love also little vases like these. It's a good investment to have a lot of places sell little. They're called bud vases for a few blooms. You put this on a bed stand uh or anywhere around the house. So something small like that. And I got it going a little bit here. This is the start of a beautiful bouquet, but a lot of times there are little things you snip off that go wasted and then go and I hate waste. Um So I save every little scrap and then exactly because, you know, if you make a mistake and you cut that stem too short and it doesn't go into like what I was telling you and it doesn't go into the vase. Don't throw it out. Save it. Keep a couple of these around. Uh, mason jars are also, like, really popular. Now, those are great to, they could serve anything can be a vase and then you just, you start with the greens. The greens always start with the greens. Yeah, it's always kind of like the bed or the foundation. Uh, so nothing goes to waste. Nothing small. Little. Now, would you put a small little vase like this though? You can put it in the um, bathroom and vanity, you can put it um by your bed uh on a, on a shelf. It's a cute little accent office um anywhere really. That's what's nice about it is, it's very small and there you go and then you have a cute little accent and there we go, a beautiful small floral bouquet for the fall and it goes along with these amazing ones.
