let's move on and check in on the first of the two national semifinal games between two seed Villanova and one seed Kansas with host of the daily tip Michael Jenkins. So jake's good to see you again. Let's start off nova and Kansas, Jayhawks favored by 4.5 points. Who are you taking here? And I promise I won't roll my eyes. Are you sure you want to make that promise? You haven't started speaking yet? You know, this game is so difficult to handicap and I'm not making excuses here, literally you could ask me yesterday and I'd say, I think it's Villanova today, I think it's Kansas. So today I'm going with Kansas just because even though I love jay right? I think he has the coaching advantage here over Bill Self. No coach has two national titles in the past 10 years except for jay right? However, this trend we found is pretty amazing Since 2001 winners in the final four are covering the spread at an 84% clip, that is incredible. So if you win this game you're covering. So whoever you think is going to cover this spread is probably the victor, I think Kansas probably does. I'm a little worried about Villanova being so thin. So I'm a little nervous about it, but I'm gonna lay the 4.5 of the Jayhawks. Oh yeah, that's incredible stat right there. Villanova of course lost Justin more in the final minutes of their win over Houston Jay Wright had been mostly rolling with a six man rotation before that are the Wildcats deep enough to hang around with Kansas. God, I don't think so when you look into the numbers and see all of the things that they're losing, their losing a guy who was second on the team in points, second on the team in rebounds, third on the team in assists and more than that when he went down with that injury, you really saw how much he means to this team. There's some guys who sort of emanate the spirit and the heart and soul of the team. You saw that entire club gather around him because they knew were losing someone who beyond the stat sheet really holds this team together, Kansas just keeps coming at you and coming at you, they can go inside and out. I think that loss is going to be huge and I expect Kansas to pull away in the second half. Oh yeah, when you're this far in the game and you lose something like that, it just throws off the whole rhythm of everything. So since Nova is thin and Kansas exploded in the second half against Miami to get here, is there a number you're looking for to hop on a live or a second half line? That's a good question, I'm not a huge live better. But I was thinking about this question and I think early on we'll see Villanova come out and play this game close because they play great perimeter defense, they're awesome from three, They certainly have athletes, but I think we're gonna see something similar like we saw in the second half of that Miami Kansas game. Now, Miami is certainly not nearly as good as Villanova, but I expect Villanova to play it close early and then maybe the Jayhawks pull away because of their depth. So if it's close early and you get a live line on Kansas minus one or minus two, I think that might be a good bet. You could probably get it perhaps early in the second half. If you're a little worried about the spread, I would bet it that way. Well, we know that modern semifinal and championship games are played in these massive NFL stadiums rather than traditional basketball arenas. Well, several players have been on the record over the years saying that the change in depth perception really messes with their shots. So does this at all make unders more intriguing to you normally I would say yes, but these guys, it's not like they're showing up and then the day of their playing a basketball game, they do have time to adjust to these cavernous arenas where they're playing and I found another trend for that. I think you'll appreciate since 1999 if the total is 1 31 or above in the final four, oversee it, 60% of the time. So I like the over in both of these matchups and particularly when it comes to do the duke and north Carolina. I know it's a really high total around 1 51 at MGM but they hit the over in both games this season and the last six matchups between these two teams also hit the over. So that's the play for me. We hear about him every single year. Yes, I know he is one of the greatest of all time. So full credit. But listen, he's been here for a reason. This Duke team is playing at an incredible high level.
