A whole lot of people welcome back to trending you know our next guest from films like Get out and the purge and shows like defending Jacob and Clickbait. Well now the actors joining john Krasinski in season three of Jack Ryan. Yeah I got the chance to chat with Betty Gabriel all about the new season and so much more take a look so petty so excited to have you here. Let's first talk about john Krasinski man who doesn't want to start a conversation with that. Uh he of course is in the title role of this and he's also the executive producer on the show. So what's it like to work with him considering he was juggling two different jobs on set here? I would say he's juggling more than that. He, in spite of it all, he's so friendly and welcoming and you know it's quite intimidating to be the new girl. So I felt very welcomed and very comfortable at ease. He's very friendly. So let's talk about your character here for a moment cause you're playing a new character that's being introduced in season three. Her name is Elizabeth. Right, tease fans just a little bit about what we can expect from her character and how she sort of fit into the show's new season here. Well she's she's Jack's boss and she's she is a boss and I think people can expect someone to be very commanding and um intelligent of course and serious, she takes her job very seriously and she has to she has her boss as well to answer to and it's the C. I. A. So it's very serious organization. Right. Well, I was gonna say, how do you sort of make the C. I. A. I mean fun and really interesting because that's part of the allure for a lot of this. What's the most challenging part here for this? Uh Yeah, it is kind of a challenge to strike a tone where, you know, it's it's a story and it's such it's on such a large scale. So you really have to, you know, meet that. Um But what makes it so amazing is is who I have to play with, which is Wendell pierce primarily. Um We have a lot a lot of fun on and off screen and uh yeah, I think it's just it's just a great peace and I'm really fortunate to be to step into these shoes. She's quite she's quite a formidable woman. Well, let's talk about, you know, Wendell pierce because as you mentioned, you share a lot of scenes with him and you recently did an interview with the route about the connection that you and your characters share as two officers of color in the C. I. A. I'm curious how does the show sort of handle representation within the C. I. A. You know, it's not really pedantic in any sort of way, but they I think they have done a great job of representing everyone and hopefully the C. I. A. Will follow suit. Um And yeah it's it's there are black people in the CIA I actually met a person, a young woman of color my age, my skin tone. And it's it was really surprising. I you know I'm embarrassed to say I was like oh you're really young and attractive. You were in the C. I. A. Okay. Um But yeah she's she's so intelligent and I hate to keep using that word but it's it's yeah she's very very articulate and really really communicative and that's what the C. I. A. Needs. I agree with you. Besides working with john Krasinski and Wendell Pierce. I mean the other great part about this show is all the different locations and the different countries across europe that you get to film at. Do you have a favorite spot that you've filmed so far because you've had a lot of really good ones. Yeah. Gosh that's tough because I shot in Berlin for counterpart. I shot in Vienna and Athens for this. I I'd say Athens was pretty amazing. Athens is pretty chaotic but I like chaotic cities um where there's lots of protesting and tear gas um keep things interesting. But yeah when we were shooting in Athens it was it was wild but also beautiful and there's just like so many parts of it. And yeah it's great and also the historical element, these old old monuments and such. Well let's talk Betty about another one of your roles. One I know a lot of our viewers are familiar with. Get Out the british film institute sight and Sound magazine, they recently released their critics poll of the greatest films of all time and Get out recently made the cut and not only because the film is so beloved, but there's also a handful of memes and gifs from the movie of you whispering no, no, no over and over and over again, which is incredible. I mean, have you ever thought about the fact that millions of people Betty every day use your face to say no to somebody in a message. Um I try not to think about it, not if I want to get things done. Um no, I I mean it's truly just, I do pinch myself and I do have occasionally this wave of awareness um but it's it's I don't know that's such a that is such a bizarre phenomenon that I do kind of go like, but I guess I was a part of that. Yes, I that is me, but I don't feel like it's me anymore I guess, you know, it's it is for the people and so if people are still enjoying um that we send it to our executive producer all the time when we don't want to come into the office.
