The Golden Globes are back and this year's nominees are out and we need to talk about it. Starting with the film avatar, the Way of the Water, which hasn't even hit theaters yet, is now up for best motion picture drama. Other nominees in that category include Elvis, The Fable Mons Tar and Top Gun Maverick. Meanwhile, here's a look at the best motion picture comedy category, Babylon, which also hasn't hit theaters yet. The banshees of insurance, everything everywhere. All at once. Glass onion and knives out, mystery over on netflix and triangle of sadness. None of the 10 films in the Best picture categories are directed by women. All right, let's turn to tv Better Call Saul The Crown House of the Dragon. Ozark and Severance are nominated for best drama series when it comes to musical or comedy series. One of our favorite shows here baker Abbot Elementary, The Bear Hacks only murders in the building and Wednesday, another show I love were all recognized. NBC will be televising the 2023 Golden Globes Awards more ceremony as part of a one year agreement that will air live Tuesday january 10th and it's the first time it's gonna be on NBC. It's going to be on streaming on peacock. You can see pretty much everywhere. Were you surprised with any of these nominees? Yeah, there was a couple of interesting sort of nuggets in all of this. First off the fact that Tom Cruise didn't get nominated for best actor, but yet, but yet, but yet. Top Gun. I mean just in the fact that he's such a big huge will smith did not get a nomination and Emancipation got zero nominations. That was supposedly going to be a darling for the Oscars. We know a lot of times the golden globes are sort of the gateway to what might vote for the Oscars. So the fact that Emancipation will smith got nothing likely means will smith will not get a nomination for the Oscars as well. What do you think about movies that haven't come out yet? Like avatar being nominated? I know, I think it's so and also James Cameron getting a nomination as well for best director as well. He is really smart about making sure that his fill from titanic to the first avatar come out right around the time that voting happened during awards season. So he knows really how to capitalize it is So clearly the voters of the golden globes have a much better idea of how well avatar is gonna be than the rest of us. Right. And I've been talking about Wednesday a lot, so glad I was nominated. Well, not been elementary. It's good to sort of see network television having the most amount of, especially a comedy show. We haven't seen that in such a long time. Yeah, very good point. And let's turn to the box office, shall we black panther Wakanda Forever. Number one for 1/5 week in a row. But another film though is catching audiences attention in a limited release. The whale scored the biggest opening weekend of the year for an art house film starring Brendan fraser and Sadie sink. The film grossed just $360,000 from six theaters. That's pretty impressive because that's about 60,000 per screen. That's the highest per theater average of the year. And we should know about black panther Wakanda forever. We're gonna talk about Brendan fraser in a second, but Wakanda forever now, essentially about two top Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as one of the second highest grossing films of the year. Only top Gun maverick had more money than Wakanda forever. It is getting so close probably within a few million dollars by christmas time of getting in the top five spots of all of the, of all time, which is really impressive. I want to go back to the whale the fact that a movie like this that is in a superhero movie or anything is attracting people to the theaters. I know it's limited release with 60,000 because of all the critic attention. I know well deserved, let's speak of that. Let's speak of the whale and Brendan fraser's transformation required more than just £300 of prosthetics. The actor also needed five bags of ice per day to stay cool. No fraser and the film's makeup designer Adrian Moreau revealed to variety that fraser wore a racecar driver cooling suit system underneath his body sculpted prosthetics which run cold water over his body while shooting when asked how many bags of ice were used. Moreau said, quote, it's those big bags, you get a gas station, I think we went through four or five per day. Can you imagine that when you're filming these dramatic seeds and remembering these lines and hot and cold at the same time? I think of like Disneyland like characters, people, they have bags of ice inside of those things also because that has to be so uncomfortable and if you're filming that many hours a day, sweating that much through all those prosthetics, imagine what that smells like at that is all over. But look also the acting and this is so amazing, he got a Golden globe nomination despite all of that for this role, he's likely one of the frontrunners now for best actor for an Oscar, even though he's not gonna show up Alright while volume one of Harry and Meghan's netflix docuseries focused on the media and the beginning of the romance. A new teaser is teasing the drama within the royal family, take a look, they're happy to lie to protect my brother. They were never willing to tell the truth to protect us. Prince Harry and Meghan, Markle, the Rogue Royals, they just wanted to be free, they wanted to be free to love and be happy I applauded that you have volume two of Harry and Megan hit netflix december 15th. Okay, so that's the part of this, I'm excited about nothing to say that I didn't like the first three that I watched. I liked. No, there were no bombshells and I really feel like it was them going after british press royal commentators who they were upset about how they treated meghan Markle during the entire process. That's sort of how I felt like the first three episodes were going, I care more about the royal drama than less about what appears more. Yeah, I could care less about what pierce morgan has to say and in january, john Fetterman will have a new job as a U. S. Senator but it turns out that isn't his only gig. The pennsylvania senator elect will also have a cameo in the upcoming film, The pale blue eye. We told you about that movie last week. It's all because of star christian bale. In a recent interview, bail revealed, he asked the film's director scott cooper to give Fetterman a role saying this quote john scott, this incredible face. I said to scott, you got to have that face that's a face that fits in the 18 thirties and christian bale typically gets Fetterman recently shared his photo from the film set. I can't wait to see this movie. I'm a big fan of Edgar Allan Poe. I want to know more about his life and his story. Is it a compliment? I was about to say the movie. No, well no, no, no, the the compliment is you have a face for the 18 thirties. If somebody ever said that to you, I was like, you know what you look like? You have a face for the 18 thirties. Yes. I don't even know if like I would be like, okay, is that a good thing? But with john Fetterman, he hasn't even sworn into the U. S. Senate yet and he's already in films already with Oscar winner. I mean after this, meanwhile, the O G queen of Genovia is speaking out on a potential third Princess Diaries film, which might be putting the royal kibosh on it as well, julie Andrews telling access Hollywood that a third film was briefly talked about after the second film came out. But the sound of music star says, quote, I think that it's probably not going to be possible. She added, quote, I am that much older and anne the princess or queen is so much older and I am not sure where it would float a run in terms of us doing it. I doubt that now. Yeah. Well yes too. She's a pulse. She can do a show, she can do whatever she wants. She's still alive. Yeah, exactly. And more importantly, we talked about this last last week, Disney unveiled their anti de aging technology to keep 80 year old, 80 year old Harrison ford looking young, fresh and amazing. They can't use that on julie Andrews to keep this show going. We'd love to see Juliette, please make this happen. Elon musk doesn't have a lot of fans on twitter or at comedy shows. Apparently musk was loudly booed by a crowd in san Francisco over the weekend after he was invited on stage by Dave chappelle. Here's a glimpse of that viral moment, make some noise for the richest man in the world. Okay, so the booze come after musk made transphobic comments on twitter just over the weekend and called for the prosecution of dr Anthony Fauci, we should say Elon musk has been talking about this a lot on twitter saying he wasn't food, it was the boats and the audio was actually edited and altered. He says it was 90% he said it was 90% cheers, 10% booze, I think we'll let our audience decide what the sort of metrics were on that one, but it does not see it was 90 10 Britney Spears, he's back on insta that after a mysterious disappearance from the platform, the singer posting a video with the caption partly reading quote, I know my instagram has been down a few times, but honestly I did the last two times myself. Oops, I accidentally pressed the wrong button and that stupid button. She yes, she also went and talked about her New Year's goals. Writing my goal this year is to learn to be as comfortable with people as they are with me now. So I know, yeah. And by the way that she, you know, us exiting out of instagram, apparently she's disabling her instagram. When that happens, some people are speculating that because she had said this glowing positive comments just recently, that that's part of the reason why she's disabling her instagram, but who knows, her last post was a little weird to, she was kind of smothered in cake and gave you a birthday, happy birthday, okay. And Adele was talk of social media over the weekend, thanks to a viral video, but it turns out this singer had nothing to do with it, Check this out. I want to know what you think. The video shows a woman who's Yeah, sort of looked like about grinding on a guy at a club, turns out that is not Adele, but it is another famous singer, Kilani turns out the guy just her makeup artist. All right at first, when we were talking about the story, I'm like, Buddy looks nothing like Adele, but in that video for a brief second, I thought it was Adele look, Adele gets down apparently, I'm sure in Vegas and we know that she's been out with jennifer Lawrence at gay bars before and she's hung out with drag queens looks nothing like her. It looks absolutely nothing like her. I wish, I think Adele wishes she had tattoos on her arm like that, but I love, I love that everybody even thought for a moment that I want to talk about
