The Biden administration also said today it would launch a trial for a new payment program for people and organizations providing care, giving coordination services to dementia patients on Medicare. The program includes services like personalized assessment for patients care plans and 24 7 access to a support line. Medicare said the program is aimed at delaying long term nursing home care. It will also be testing a per patient per month amount payment plan for people providing services to dementia patients. The trial will run eight years starting in July of 2024 applications are open for organizations interested in participating. According to government data, about 6.5 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer's or another form of dementia.
