Biden Rejects Conditions of Plea Deal for September 11 Defendants

Biden has rejected conditions of a plea deal stopped by five prisoners who are being held for their part in the September 11th attacks. The five included Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, accused of being one of the main organizers of the attacks has been offered a plea agreement. If he admits guilt, it would see them sentenced to life in prison but share them at a death penalty. In response, the defendants have requested that their life sentences not be served in solitary confinement and that they be allowed to eat and pray with other inmates. The White House says Biden discussed the matter with the defense secretary and in a statement said the 9 11 attacks were the single worst assault on the US since Pearl Harbor. The president does not believe that accepting the joint policy principles as a basis for pre trial agreement would be appropriate in these circumstances.
