Biden To Speak on Crime, Gun Violence in Pennsylvania

and sticking with politics, the world of politics waking up and president biden traveling to the battleground state of pennsylvania today ahead of the midterm elections are aerial Hickson is live on the ground for us in the White House to bring us more details on this. Good morning. Ariel, good morning baker. President biden today is traveling to pennsylvania. His latest trip to one of the battle stone kind of states at this particular point and his goal is to talk about gun control and how he really pushed forward that idea of making sure that there are some type of bipartisan gun legislation into his hands. Now, this all comes as a trip itself as a calculated move. Pennsylvania has both Senate and governor's races that are being closely watched and biden and his team really hope that going to this key state and talking about all of his accomplishments will really boost democrats up and down the ballot today is far from the last time that that will be there. He said to give a speech on democracy thursday night and we'll visit Pittsburgh for Labor Day on monday now. Meanwhile though, we have all eyes as well on another person that is really trying to go up for election here. John Fetterman, Yeah, tell us more about john Fetterman because I know that he's trying to get biden to legalize marijuana. So what's with that story? Yeah. So he's a Democratic candidate for us Senate in pennsylvania and he's calling on biden to disk. Edgell marijuana, of course you have to go into exactly what that means right now, marijuana is illegal at the federal level and is scheduled as a Schedule one drug putting it at the same level as drugs like heroin and cocaine. And Federman and other democrats want to see marijuana legalized. They also argue that the first step towards that should be biden taking steps to de schedule it within the executive branch. But to be clear, biden cannot unilaterally d schedule a drug. But he also can tell executive branch agencies to reconsider their enforcement approach or change the administrative scheduling of marijuana. Federman won't be in attendance at Biden's event today, but expect him to keep up that pressure while Biden is still in that keystone state. Yeah, Fetterman doing incredibly well in the polls.
