Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich. 11th District) is gearing up for a meet and greet with President Joe Biden at a Ford plant in Dearborn. Stevens said she expects the visit to coincide with the president’s infrastructure plan as he proposed investing $15 billion into building charging stations for electric vehicles with a goal of reaching 500,000 by 2030. Ford has committed to having an all-electric fleet in Europe by 2030. Stevens, however, admitted that convincing Americans to make the switch from gas powered vehicles to electric is an uphill battle because of the lack of infrastructure to support it. “People want to be able to buy an electric car and know that they are going to be able to charge it, that there’s going to be the infrastructure for that,” she told Cheddar.
