'Black Panther 2,' MCU Phase Six Announcements at Comic-Con 2022

we've got to start with some. Comic con news. A lot of stuff happening there. Comic con wrapping up over the weekend huge announcements coming from marvel So let's talk all about it. Starting with the moment we've all been waiting for the first trailer for black panther. What kind of forever? No surprise here but the plot centers around the royal family of Wakanda dealing with the loss of T'challa Chadwick bozeman's character. We'll also try to protect their kingdom from a new threat. Look at this thanks. I am queen of the most powerful nation. My I am following he's gone why not Give oh that is amazing that black panther would come to forever arriving in theaters this november the 11th. I can't wait marvel fans also got a better idea of upcoming M. C. U. Phases five and six with first looks at ant man and the Wasp's Quantum mania and Guardians of the Galaxy. Volume three. Phase six will start with Fantastic four and end with back to back Avengers films titled Avengers the Kang Dynasty and Avengers Secret Wars believe it or not there was some some non marvel news. We saw a new trailer and release date for the sequel to Shoes. Um An announcement that Abbott elementary baker your one of your favorite shows coming back with 22 episodes for season two and a trailer for Tales of the Walking Dead. Check us out. I am studying the homo mortise everything from their behavior psychology to migration path. What psychology they don't do anything other than walk around and try to kill us. Their study done. I'm starting to think if you're gonna choose yourself over others, you should make sure that your life is worth saving. Ooh that looks scary by the new series by the way featuring terry crews and Olivia munn premieres august 14th, can we go back to Comic Con? I think it's safe to say marvel saved Comic Con this year in past years. It's been warnermedia and you know, a lot of other uh studios releasing projects but marvel it was one after the other one after the other. One thing we didn't mention that also made a lot of headlines was um the rock playing black adam coming out in his costume project. He was one of the biggest celebrities there but I think marvel killed in the Avengers news kevin making those announcements. The fact that they're having two Avengers movies and the fact that they're coming out just a few months apart from what the first one coming out in May, I believe the second one coming out in november. So you would have to think that a vendors, they will almost have a full calendar year of film basically at the theater here to discuss more is mic check kini editor in chief over at Den of geek mike. Such a pleasure to have you here marvel as Hannah just said easily won this year's Comic Con after relieve revealing its long term roadmap and even dropping one surprise after another. So what's in store for fans here is we wrap up Phase four here because this was pretty amazing. Well marvel are always the kings of saturday night at Comic Con and this year was no different but Phase four there's only two projects left believe it or not and that she hulk which hits on august 17th on Disney Plus. And then of course Wakanda Forever on november 11th and that Wakanda Forever trailer is probably the greatest trailer I think marvel's ever put out. It was really really moving and the audience really responded to it and but it's it's the news that that is the end of Phase four and that then Phase five kicks off with the first release of 2023 which is in the Wascana mania but I think really started getting people excited because Phase five is really packed you know and then of course there's those big Phase six announcements to, I completely agree with you about the Wakanda trailer, this is breathtaking, it really is amazing. We have to talk about Phase five of the M. C. You were getting a new Captain America movie, a new daredevil series, there's honestly so much to keep track of here. What's your biggest takeaway? Oh man I mean look they're not slowing down like there's always buzz about oh have we finally hit peak peak superhero and his superhero fatigue setting in with audiences and that's clearly not the case. Like marvel just goes from success to success. Now there has been like an impression certainly among critics That Phase four was a little bit uneven from a storytelling standpoint especially after how they were just So massively successful in Phase three. But phase five is really really exciting. Okay so what's up with those two Avengers movies? I was mentioning those are gonna be part of Phase six of the M. C. you might do we have any idea what to sort of expect in those films. So the second of those is Secret Wars which is based on two different massive marvel comics events and they're both beloved by fans. And they're also really really complicated and there's a reason marvel has been calling phases 45 and six. They revealed on saturday that this is known as the multiverse saga. Now just as the first three phases were the infinity saga. So it's all going to culminate in Secret Wars which is gonna be you know basically um all the variants stuff that was introduced in Loki Kang the conqueror who is going to be played by Jonathan majors probably is gonna be playing with timelines and playing with alternate realities. And it's all going to culminate with Secret wars which is a wild and fun comic book story and I can't wait to see how they adapted on screen. Now. I love marvel but I'm a D. C. Girl let's talk about the rock and black adam we know it's a black Adam right that that's the show, we know this is his passion project. What are we, what are we expecting from this franchise? Okay, so despite my marvel background, I'm a dc guy too. So I'm totally with you there. It took the rock 15 years to make this movie. He was cast as Black Adam so long ago. It's a character that he feels really, really strongly about. He was originally supposed to be introduced as the villain in sham before they went in a different direction with that. And now they're making this Black Adam movie which also introduces the Justice Society of America who in the comics were actually the first ever superhero team from the 19 forties. So there's a whole bunch of other cool characters coming in with this, they're really diving into Black Adam's origin which goes back to like 5000 years in the past and I don't think I've ever seen a star of the superhero project. This personally invested and fired up as Dwayne johnson appears to be about black Adam. Okay with that being said that okay because again, black Adam, you got shot sam you even got the batman is this sort of the moment for Dc to outpace marvel. I mean yes marvel's got pretty much everything but this could be a really sort of good schedule here for D. C. I'd love to see it but I don't think there, I don't think they're really trying to compete in the same way as marvel. It's kind of a different business model, They're a little bit more filmmaker driven and unfortunately, you know, they have some hurdles they still have to overcome. They want very conservative at Comic Con. They showcased, showcased to great trailers for Black Adam and Sam Fury of the Gods looks delightful. Um but you know, they're trying to do something a little bit different with their cinematic universe and I appreciate that. But I would love for there one day to be the kind of haul age Comic Con announcement, like where they're unveiling a slate of projects like we saw with marvel on saturday.
