Breaking Down Early-Season MLB Prop Trends

The blue jays slugger hit not one, not two, but three home runs off Yankees pitching last night in route to a 64 win. Despite this, the jays who currently have the best odds to win the american league pennant according to Bet MGM Sports book are listed as an underdog for tonight's series finale in the Bronx. Should bettors be jumping on the jays or are there better odds to wager on elsewhere? We'll get into all of that a little bit later. But right now let's bring in yahoo, sports book betting analyst, Minty Bets Minty, let's start with walker Buehler and Shohei Otani, the headline tonight's pitching slate. Adam wainwright threw six shutout innings on opening day, which game offers the best no run. First inning possibility, Alex. All great pictures you listed. But I'm gonna look to the tigers and Royals matchup as possible and R. F. I. As their starters are Casey Mize and Zack Greinke. Now we know Zack Greinke from his days in Houston and he was a stud, one of the best pictures in their rotation, which is why Kansas City probably grabbed him. His performance has slightly declined in recent years, but he's still a solid picture. He started for the Royals in their season opener and didn't give up a run until the fifth inning now onto Casey Mize for the Detroit tigers. He's not a big name like the Greinke's or wainwright's or Buehler Zorro Tony's but he has potential. His ear is currently 7.2, but that doesn't mean anything so early in the season. Um, in his last start, mice gave up four runs, two coming in the first inning. But that was against the Chicago white sox one of the best offenses in the league. Um, I like this matchup to have a no run in the first inning because these two teams are bottom 10 and hitting as of now they've got one of the lowest batting averages and the fewest friends in the league pitching should most certainly prevail in this first inning here. Well, we mentioned Otani earlier, he struck out nine on the mound on opening day, but also went oh and four at the plate in the same game. How should bettors wager on Otani when it comes to tonight? You know, I think a lot of people expect a lot from Otani because of his performance last year, but that's pretty difficult to top, not saying that he'll decline this season, but everyone always wants to back Otani up. I wouldn't bet him on the plate yet, but I certainly like him on the mound. I like picture props. Otani recorded nine strikeouts in his last start as he said. So a strikeout prop is pretty high at 6.5 today. I'm gonna look at his hits allowed. It's also set a little high 5.5 and the under is kind of juiced at minus 1 60. But I looked to the under in his hits allowed as I think it's a safer bet. Otani pitching recorded only four hits in his last start and that was against the Houston Astros who are one of the best hitting teams in the MLB. 5.5 seems pretty high against the rangers who don't have much firepower going for them. It should be doable as texas's 18th and hits right now and batting at only 2 38 again, the price is really important and minus 1 60 is not an attractive price. Um I leaned to this prop is my favorite Otani prop for the night, but I probably wouldn't get to the window just because it's a little too juiced. Alright, minty talked to me. Football, basketball, I got you. Baseball. It takes me a little longer to do some research. So what kind of research and stats are you looking for when preparing for your MLB player prop bets. Okay, so I don't often get player props but they're so fun. And when I do it's usually pitching props. Of course the better pictures are going to have the higher set totals when it comes to strikeouts and lower ones and runs or hits allowed. Like Otani. And sometimes we see uh we even find these totals at a higher price to especially when you bet on props. You want a good price at minus 1 10 or better yet lost money when getting any sort of player prop. You want to look at their current numbers, how they performed last season, how they did against a specific opponent, how they did at the specific ballpark, ballpark everything. Uh Those are things I keep in mind when looking at MLB player props. Alright, minty we clearly love talking baseball and props with you. So we wanted to have you play one of our favorite games of the night. Who's betting line is it anyways where we pull up similar prop bet lines, put them against each other and ask our expert which bet they think is worth taking. But unlike that other roll show that you might be thinking about the points do matter in this one. So we'll be keeping tabs on our expert picks. All right, so you ready for the first one? Yes. All right. First up, we've got the two guys playing tonight that have the most total basis so far in this young season, who's more likely to hit their total of 1.5. Nolan or Nado or Vladimir Guerrero Jr I'm gonna have to do with the blessed. Okay, I'm gonna have to go with Vlad only because no one they're not on the cards that are going to have a really difficult time against Brandon Woodruff today Mindy, my only question is are we sure that we're gonna that Vlad is gonna be seeing pitches tonight because walks don't count walks don't count as total bases. That's my only question walks. Don't count but come on I mean it's Vlad like he had such a big day yesterday. He's on a roll on that today. Alright next one a pair of bases take the mound tonight. Who hits their strikeout total tonight? Between the angels, Shohei Shohei Otani against the rangers and walker Buehler against the rents, walker Buehler I mean I think 5.5 is set too low against the reds who won't be able to generate a lot of runs or hits even. So I'm really high on walker tonight. I'm with Mincy, this is a very weak reds lineup, third worst strikeout percentage in baseball. Alright, last up these guys had four homers between them last night. Maybe it was a little more lopsided than that. Who's more likely to hit a homer at Yankee Stadium tonight. Vlady JR or Aaron Judge. Oh that's a really good number for Vlady because I mean you know he just recorded three yesterday but I'll go with Aaron Judge because of my bias to him I think I mean I had a preseason to record the most homers this season only got one yesterday but he's due for another today so I'll go with Aaron Judge. Oh my gosh make fun of me. I'm staying away. I'm staying away from this one? Cause I like Kevin Gausman, I don't want to see him get hit around and I just can't see Vlady doing, I can't see Vlady getting pitched to tonight.
