As the 116th Congress draws to a close, the 117th Congress is preparing for a quick start at the beginning of January. Members and new members in particular are making staffing decisions from the top down, from chief of staff all the way down to the office interns, spots often occupied by college students. But the often unpaid nature of these positions makes them only accessible to a certain demographic, namely white students from economically advantaged backgrounds.
