California, Governor Gavin Newsome met with Chinese President Xi Jinping earlier today in an effort to promote climate co-operation. Newsom said he was in China in hopes of quote turning the page. Now this trip was met by criticism of both US parties, both the Democrats and Republicans over China's human rights record relations between the US and China are strained over disagreements on issues like trade, Taiwan and technology and Beijing's stance on the war on Ukraine and the Middle East.
