you know, our next guest is known in the fashion world and on Tiktok for bringing renewed awareness for embracing age with confidence. However, most notably she is known for her eclectic looks and styling hacks on the app? Here's a tip when a sweater is hitting you in a funky way and you want it to look a little shorter. Take a safety pin fastened the inside of one side like so so it'll look schlumpy but still high in one strategic area to give you a semblance of a waste genius. By the way, that closet is insane. I sat down with the real life carrie, Bradshaw fashion designer and tick tock Carla rock more discuss her style plus when fans can get their hands on her new jewelry collection, check it out. So Carla, you began posting styling videos on Tiktok during the pandemic. You've garnered millions and millions of likes and views for your fashion ideas. What is the key to creating wardrobe content for social media because it is a saturated space, but you've handled it so well. I really didn't know what I was doing. I just, I just went with my gut. I've always gone with my gut in terms of the way I dress like I consider clothing a form of self expression without words. So I just threw the camera on and away we went away we went and since then you've been interviewed by vogue, your closet, which I was saying off camera is gorgeous has been highlighted by architectural digest. You've landed yourself on people magazine's 100 reasons to love America in 2022. Amazing. Have you had that pinch me moment yet? Absolute. I mean obviously vogue being a clothing designer in you know, the past 30 years, that's what I would have done. So being in Vogue was quite validating. I would, I believe that did you ever think your career and love for fashion would get you here and also become a tiktok sensation for so many people out there? Not at all. I mean, at the end of the day, I probably, Um I don't know if I would have turned the camera on, if it wasn't through the pandemic, you know, I think a lot of people kind of looked at the world differently once a global pandemic happened. I mean if that can happen, anything can happen, right? Absolute. And we learned that in the last few years, you've said in interviews in the past 50 year old women tend to know who they are and what they want. Has your style evolved over the years to get to this point of knowing exactly who you are. Absolutely. I think as we age, we become more ourselves. I think that's one of the gifts to aging and I would not change my insight, my experience, my confidence for my 20 year old posterior for any means, you know, your Tiktok, it has a fan base of all ages, it resonates with so many people. Why do you think your content attracts all demographics instead of a certain age group or just a certain fashion type of people? That's my favorite part about this whole thing is that I'm a family share is that I've got the daughters, the moms, the brothers, this everybody's watching for a different reason. And I think that's primarily because maybe because I am a little older. I'm, I'm, you know, I'm past the age of twerking. So, so what I can do is just share my love for color for proportion and for shape. Um, to all generations because I dress in a way that I think everybody can wear. The question, the coveted question speaking of your Tiktok. So what's the key to a great outfit? The key is to listen to your gut. I think the key is not to exclusively look at what's going down the runway and figure everything I have in my closet is tired and old. You have to pepper in bits of yourself. And I believe that accessories are the way to do that. So lean in on pieces that speak to you? Those will set you apart than just what's coming down the runway trend wise. I think that's fantastic advice. What other words of advice do you have for those young old, everything in between were eager to embrace their style, but they just don't know how they get a little intimidated. Even for the young, I would say try it. This isn't life or death if you make a mistake, you'll know because you won't feel comfortable the rest of the day walking around, listen to your gut and if it feels good to you to wear that boulder lip that you never tried before. Try it again the next day for women my age and over and above. I give you permission by the same pair of pants over and over again in a multitude of colors and fabrics if they suit you, I have to say, I'm so excited because you're launching a jewelry collection. What is the creative process behind your pieces? When can people get their hands on your jewelry? Because I can't wait. Well, we're going early in the next year. We shall release um, the, the Carla Rock More jewelry collection. It's very exciting. The process has been 30 years in the making and I basically, I design what I would want to wear.
