Celebrity Hairstylist Cody Renegar Talks Summer Hair Trends

Welcome back Between Bells everyone. Our next guest is the rare combination of a master barber colorist and hairstylist. Trust me, that is very hard to find in one with over 20 years in the biz he's worked with top celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow Marie Osmond with an impressive resume under his belt. We're calling on this hair expert to help break down the trop top trending summer haircuts joining us now is celebrity hairstylist, Cody Rudiger Cody. Welcome to the show. Hi, we're so happy to have you. So if you scroll on Tiktok, there are so many videos of people showing off their new hairstyles, dramatic cuts. I gotta ask you, you are an expert in your field. What is the must have summer cut of the summer? Oh well, I think everybody who wants to be a little bit more edgy has to have the heartthrob bob. I think we'll all remember this bob from the nineties that used to be called the french bob and it's just um a little above the shoulder. Exactly. You can add the banks do it without bangs, however you can adjust this to your face shape like this lady has a little closer to her shoulders. I think that's very important. The thinner face can go above the chin, but uh the heart throb bob will put a lot of spring in your step. Do you? Yeah. Do you think that's a summer fat or do you think it will continue as the in the fall. Well, usually in the fall, the hair gets a little bit longer with the weather of course, depending on where you live, but this is kind of a timeless fad that comes back over and over and you'll notice in this industry that things repeat and they just get a little better every time Cody, you know as well as I do so many people are traveling this year, we're seeing record highs after we were all locked in our homes for two years. How do you maintain your color and your cut while you're traveling this summer? It is hard to stay away from your colors that long. I have so many people ask me this question um The main thing is shampoo, moisturize, moisturize, moisturize um If your hair is color treated the drier, your hair gets the more that hair shaft opens up and those follow those pigments can fall out so keep that hair moisturized and healthy and keep it um just hydrated. You can also use some bottled water if you're out of the country because a lot of foreign water has different metals that could really change the texture of your hair and a leave in conditioner is extremely important and you can do that at any type of hair. Um Any hair type fine hair, you can use it on the ends, you know, thicker coarser hair, you can saturate that hair but just fill it with the good stuff before the bad stuff has a chance to absorb. That is excellent advice, especially bottled water for people that are traveling overseas, You're a stylist of the stars. Like I mentioned, what styles are celebrities asking you for these days. Do you know? I have done this for 27 years and worked with celebrities and always, they always want to go back to the tried and true Hollywood classics. I think that's kind of an amazing nod to the, to some timeless styles. But the Hollywood glam that you see here um is never gonna go away. That's a, that's timeless long layers are always gonna be here with us. But um whenever you do the finger waves or the rolls around the face, you can change any shape. It is, as I said timeless and we always want that. So what did people, when they go to their stylists say when they want that kind of haircut or that trendy haircut of the season, the training here. So, um usually if you have a stylist worth their weight, they're gonna already know that. But I think it's a good collaboration just to google and some of your keywords and show your stylist a lot of things that you like and don't like and then Tiktok is a great source for the trends. I'm so glad you mentioned Tiktok because there is a whole algorithm when it comes to hair and hairstyles, what Tiktok trends have you seen when it comes to hair that you really are really are digging. Really like, you know, I really like those bubble ponytails, everybody's doing. I feel like this is just a fun little of yeah, fun little summer thing, everybody's doing all different versions of of them, but this is just a lot uh oh that looks great. This is a lot more fun um than just a regular pony. So the bubble ponies in um for those watching right now Cody and they want to get a haircut, what would you advise them? Well, I think the layers, any face framing layers is going to shape your face. It really doesn't matter. People think that their faces to wide or narrow for these face framing layers, but you can always adjust those layers to make your jaw a little smoother. Make your cheekbones pop, maybe open your eyes, get everything away from your face, like face framing layers you just can't go wrong with. So I think you should really um if there's features you don't like or features you love and you want to enhance, you can do that with face framing layers. So, a shag haircut at any adjusted to any type of individual style would always work. Great advice. I will keep that in mind and our viewers will to Celebrity hairstyles Cody ray ***.
