When the coronavirus outbreak first hit the United States back in March, personal protective equipment supply chains were turned on their heads, leaving many medical professionals without the proper equipment needed to handle the virus. Now, a new study out of the University of California Berkeley finds that creation of a state stockpile of personal protective equipment, or PPE, for future pandemics or emergencies could have economic and health benefits.
