Hello. Hello friends, Welcome back to Between Bells with Hannah, Stop checking Banker Machado if you're looking for a good laugh, who's not? We definitely got you covered comedian David Arnold just released his second stand up special. It ain't for the weak. This is produced by Kevin Hart's heartbeat. That comedy special teaches hilarious life lessons while also providing some witty jokes, some impressions and even a good time. Look at this we try to do is get these kids out, that's what we gotta do. You want some freshness in your relationship, get them kids out your life. I got to 14, 16 year old, let me tell you something, these first of all these these new kids, they are the most entitled group of people that I've ever met in my life, you hear me? But here's the thing, I know they like this because we made them like this joining us now is comedian Davide Arnold David, thank you so much for joining us today. Now, as we mentioned, this is your second comedy special with netflix following your 2019 special, fat ballerina. So what really goes into this creative process for you, I'm sure it's a massive process hey, how you doing guys? Good to see you. I love the show, thank you so much for having me. Um I, you know what goes into it is just reps like this touring, like literally I feel like I did about 25 cities uh as I prepare for this, you know, in some cities we do five shows a night at different comedy clubs and just doing it again and again and again and getting it, you know, to where it's every word that comes out of your mouth is leading to a purpose a point or a joke and it and it just was really well received, it's you gotta love it, you gotta love doing it and I love doing it. Absolutely David, as we mentioned, Kevin Hart's produced in this special, what was it like working with him on this and how does this sort of expertise really sort of help out at the end of the day, Kevin, Kevin and I have been friends long before, you know, Kevin was kevin and so from the beginning, you know, Kevin has always been in my corner and he was just like, dude, go do your thing. The good thing about Kevin, Kevin's a comedian, he knows the process, so Kevin was like, he knew what exactly what I needed to do. It was one point I was in Philly performing and he was there promoting one of his movies. So we jumped on stage together and performed in Philly and like, you know, give notes comedians, like we do, we give notes on each other, set this, this, this joke, this joke was terrible change this like comedians are very rough the way we talk to each other to like we, we all know our skin is thick, so we will definitely let you know when whatever you're doing is horrible and we're just real, you know, so like we we we've had a good relationship, kevin has been very good. Kevin also produced my first netflix special fat ballerina as well. So it's you know, the history, it's a formula that works. So we went back in it again. Yeah, we've been doing this a long time and that's the best sort of criticism, I agree. That's how we work, that's how we do. Yeah, so, David, we noticed that, you know, family really is a huge part of this special. You had some fantastic stories about your dad, your granddad, your stepdad, even your daughters were included in this, We just heard a joke about them before we brought you on. So what made it so important to kind of include them in this special? You think well for me, my stand up is well, one, you know, my my stand up is very much about my life. I've always been talking about my family even before I had kids, I feel like the material that I do, it's not it's not that I do it because oh, I want to talk about my Children, I do things that are my life and I've always done that and I believe that's why my stand up resonates with everybody. If you married in a relationship, have a daughter, you've been a daughter, you have parents or you are parents, it all relates because everybody has experienced it. So that's the reason why I find myself in that wheelhouse. That is what is most, you know, that's what's relatable to me and that's what's real. So it just worked out and my daughters are getting used to now. People constantly talking to them about my state of which they are stick up. Sometimes kids don't think I would think they're like its attention. I love this. This is great. Well, you know, we started posting videos on my social media page like 2.5 years ago and it just exploded. And we went from, cause me and my wife and kids post videos about what's going on in my house. The next thing, you know, we were in, on news stations all over the country and my daughters were like, what is going on? Like we go to the mall, they're getting stopped and now I'm popping up on all of their friends pages as to like their Tiktok page. My daughters are so disgusting that their friends are following me now. Yes, they'll never, they'll never admit it. They, they love so David, you actually take this special at the Hanna theater, your hometown Cleveland. Ohio talk about how special it was for you to do that. They're really in sort of the city that shaped you as a comedian here. You know what, going back to Cleveland, this is also my second, my first special Fat ballerina was also shot in Cleveland. We did it at a comedy club this time I went back and I did it in the theater and I did that because yes, I'm from Cleveland. I wanted to get pay, you know, recognition to my city and where I'm from. And also I just wanted to do what I knew was going to be a big moment in front of my, my family, my dad, my mom, everybody, all my family was there. Now I will say that's probably the last one I'm going to do there right now because you know, yes, when you go home, every, my mother thinks that because she's my mother, she surpasses everything. I'm in the middle of filming and my mother will come, your aunt, Your aunt doesn't have a good seat. Can you get your annabelle? Like are you crazy? You can't make concessions. She needs, she needs a coupon to get concessions over here. Exactly. That's exactly like when you go home every time everybody wants favorite. But yeah, it's, it was a lot of fun. It was very well received. The Hanna theater is a beautiful theater to shoot in and it came out really great and it's very funny, incredibly relatable with the mom already. Always, my mom will text me during the show and she'd be like, oh, I don't like your shirt today. Like mom, I'm kind of busy. I got another thing, I got to watch the view. Come on. Yeah, So David, We know you're so busy on top of that special. That girl Layla is returning for season two at Nickelodeon now you're the creator and showrunner of this hilarious show. I know it's early, so no worries. If you can't say too much now. But what direction are you hoping to really take that show in the second season? Well, you you we meet some new characters. Uh lei lei reveals some new powers and which have become the big thing. There's my daughter right there. But let's review reveals the new powers and her and Sadie just go on some bigger adventures and we have some really fun stuff coming up and as well, looks like we're gonna be doing this for a little, wow. You know, for for the network, I think we're gonna be here for a minute. The show is killing. It's doing great on Nickelodeon and you can also see it on netflix, it's now streaming on netflix as well. So a whole nother audience being able to watch it as well.
