Steve Hulford, CEO & Founder of Backyard Media, joins Cheddar to discuss how the company has pivoted to digital content. Hulford believes many companies haven't done that, and that's hindering their growth. In recent months, Backyard has started to develop an artificial intelligence machine learning algorithm that will help source stories. He says right now the company looks on sites like Reddit and Twitter for viral content in sectors including history, geography, science, and culture. The company plans to grow its creator network, so people send content and storytellers can work all over the globe to get their content produced. He says Backyard Media is seeing a lot of engagement on Twitter so far. He worries about the fickle algorithms of Facebook and Instagram. The company is working on some longer form content for YouTube as well. Its goal is to keep viewers on the site as long as possible.
