The latest drop puts the index down 20.5% below the record high that we hit right after Russia invaded Ukraine a year ago. The food and agriculture organization cites three causes for this drop. Ample supply, subdued import demand and the extension of a deal that allows Ukrainian grain to be safely transported via the Black Sea. The fao acknowledged food prices are still expensive, especially for developing countries that have, you know, highly dependent economies on importing food.
