Dating Contestants Tap Into Their Wild Side on 'Love in the Jungle'

We all know that sometimes dating can feel like a fight in the wild while new dating show wants contestants to tap into their inner animal that for a shot of finding something real love in the jungle is Discovery. Plus his first dating show of its kind with no verbal communication allowed at all. Singles have to rely on social cues and body language all to communicate and forge their connections with one another. Just like our friends in the animal kingdom. Here's a look at this deep in the remote jungles of Colombia, A new species has been spotted at the watering hole. Humans a rare sight in this habitat. These humans are using animal mating techniques in their search for true love and are forbidden to speak to one another. I'm not talking sucks. I'm so into this. Yes, so joining us now, Austin no jik and paged agonized stars of Love in the Jungle. Great to have both of you here with me. Okay, first we have to start with you first. No talking I mean page, what was it like to be able to communicate with other people without actually talking to people. Page. That's so crazy. It was definitely challenging. That's for sure I'm a big talker. So not being able to communicate with with words was really difficult. We just had to use eye contact. We would try and like touch each other, kiss each other and just make noises and it worked. Okay, so Austin, what was your perspective on this? Because clearly with no talking, you know, the sexual chemistry seems to really be amplified is it's sort of hard to sort of communicate with somebody without basically talking to them. Oh man, it is one of the most difficult things you will ever experience and that I've ever really experienced. Um again to like, just all like the little kind of physical cues that we did, we like, you know, would just go up and just kind of like run our hands across one another or just kind of just try to show affection in some way. I know um where someone was like braiding my hair or just, you know, handing someone an apple or a leaf, just kind of finding a way to show some interest into these people. It was, it was difficult, but we got used to it. Okay, so, page besides just picking a mate, there's sort of this mating ritual that you have to sort of win here, explain what that is. What are you sort of winning here? Yeah. So in the beginning we find out that we were not allowed to talk to one another. And this mating ritual gives you a chance to become alpha if your alpha, you get a chance to bring on two people on a date where you get to talk. So that's your first chance on getting to actually speak to someone and get to know them, ask them questions and so you really want to win alpha because not talking is terrible. Okay. And the other thing I love and I saw this in the trailer, which is so funny. Each one of you guys have your own sort of spirit animal that you are. Austin the animal you chose to identify with is the koala. I'm curious. Why did you choose that animal? Oh yeah, I mean, I kind of, just from the beginning we did a lot of personality tests and it kind of showed you kind of who you were and what animal you related to most and you know, I think the koala just fit me so perfect on the outside. You know, I'm the six ft four burly type guy, I'm £230 so a lot of people think kind of look at me and they're like, oh, this guy might be um a little bit intimidating, but kind of deep down, I'm I really am just this cute, lovable kind of bear type figure, so it fit well. Okay, so page, what was your animal? What did you choose? I was a starfish and why? On the star of the show? Duh, Of course, of course, so easy. Of course. Okay, by the way, there's so many dating shows, page out there, what made you decide, this seems great, I want to be a part of this one, you know, I'm not big on drama or just, I don't know, I didn't want like something super competitive with other girls. So like the bachelor or anything like that didn't really interest me and I just looked at it as an opportunity to grow, learn something about myself and just find something positive from it and it was so interesting, it was different, I love animals and I was like you know what, this will make you uncomfortable, but you'll grow and essentially maybe find someone, so that's why I did it. Okay. Austin and basically the same question, I mean, did this make you feel more confident about your dating skills after the show was over? Yeah, I think you know, going into it, it's a really unique concept, not being able to talk and it really forces you to kind of just be better with body language. Like it's not all physical attraction, there is a lot of, you know, kind of emotion that even goes in with your body language. So just being able to interpret that, I think it's so important and you walk away from this kind of just unique experience with just so much more out of life. Like it really was just a personal growth journey, it was amazing. Okay, so page, what do you want viewers to take away from this? Do you feel like there's sort of this underlying message here that, you know, look swiping right? Or talking overrated, you need to be in the jungle, basically make it to really forge a connection there. 100% agree. I think for me the biggest takeaway is in the real world. No one really gets to truly get to know someone in a genuine and authentic way because everyone is distracted by their phones. The next best thing and dating just sucks in the real world. So in the jungle we got everything stripped away. We couldn't talk. There was a lot of physical attraction at first but then it's so much more than that because then you're you have all these questions in your head of like what's their family, like what do they like to do? What are their hobbies? And so it just makes you look at dating so much differently and just number one getting to know someone in just the deepest and most authentic way. So I would say stop with all the distractions. Actually try and get to know someone in a deeper level and it completely changes the game. Okay, okay, okay. With just a few seconds I have left.
