Doctors in Australia removed this three inch long living round worm from a woman's brain. It's what's being called a world first. The worm was pulled from the 64 year old woman. After brain surgery at Canberra Hospital, the woman had suffered symptoms including stomach pain, a cough, night sweats and forgetfulness. This is a the first case where parasitic worm has been found in the brain of any mammal species. Doctors think the parasite could have been alive in her brain for up to two months. The round worm is common and common carpet pythons and the woman apparently lived near a lake where they were common and likely caught the parasite while foraging leafy vegetables in the area.
