Doctors at NYU Langone in New York City, successfully transplanted a whole human eye for the first time. A 46 year old Oklahoma man suffered severe electrical burns and a back in injury. Rather back in May, he got a new eye as well as a face transplant. He can't see out of the eye just yet and he may never regain vision on that side. But doctors are optimistic that the new eye might eventually be able to communicate with his brain. The primary goal of the transplant was to restore the patient's physical appearance. Doctors successfully transplanted corn ears before. But according to the team at Ny Langone, this is the first successful transplant of the entire eye.
