Dorm Room Design Tips With The Novogratz's

as you know, back to school season is no longer just a thought it is officially here. And while we've been talking a lot about our younger ones heading off to school, I don't think that we forgot about you college students to, so here to give us some expert design tips on how to make your dorm room. The envy of all your friends are husband and wife, design duo bob and Cortney Novogratz. Thank you guys so much for coming in And look at all this amazing stuff we got on the table before we get to that we got to talk a little bit more about what made this all happen because you guys are superstars. But how did you go from being just a regular husband and wife team to now design superstars? Well, like 25 years we were designing building homes in Manhattan that rolled into some books, which rolled into a television, television shows and uh uh yada yada just kind of had a lot of kids, so we gotta keep hustling a lot like seven. Right? I think so, last time we checked, we have seven. Yeah, sometimes like, okay, where is everybody now, Courtney, you guys have an amazing line with bed bath and beyond. Just looking at some of the awesome things here. How did that come about? Was that just an easy deal? I mean it was fairly easy and the fact that we've been selling things online there and done really well and the fact that we've gotten kids off to college, we still have a few more to go. I know what we're doing a little bit. So I figured let's go with a kind of package deal one stop shop where you can get everything and so that's what happened and it's really done well. Okay, so you have a few items here. What are some of the must haves we need to have must have obviously as you're betting and we are not afraid of color. So we have fun sending little notes from our own family to yours because it's such an exciting time for people. Um it can be overwhelming, but I think we broke it down and made it pretty simple and easy for everyone. Okay, now bob do you get in on the design of the dorm rooms for the kids? And what's the best tip you can give us because a lot of people just thinking like it's so small, what do you do with this space? You know, Courtney does more of the dorm stuff. I, I do a lot of design actually, but not the dorms. She's the the expert. Well, I definitely um when it's small, you can think, well, how do I, you know, how do I spruce it up? But for example, your twin bed, we did these big body pillows or the decorative pillows. You see there are wife loves these and like I spend five minutes every night getting all the pillows off the bed before I can sleep, but imagine your small twin bed that can become a sofa during the day where you have friends and you hang out in your dorm room and so we did oversized, you know, pillows, decorative pillows so people can really have a fun creative experience on their bed and kind of be decorating. Yeah, exactly. Okay. So I know you have the seven kids we talked about, do they have the bug to, did they get bit by the bug to design? And I would say all of them are creative because in our house you kind of have to be um but you know, we have musicians, we have actors, we have everybody's there, everybody's so beautiful. Thank you. They definitely know that they're part of our family and part of our work. So, and some of them love going to flea markets and have the design bug I would say. Um and some were still finding out what they want to have one kid to go to finance. What would be pretty good because Southern artists is a lot. He or she can help run the family business and you guys have also traveled all around the world designing. Are there any places you definitely want to go still and you know, just sit there and let it be your muse for designing. We just actually got back from brazil, We just did a big beach collection coming out next year. But any time we travel, we get inspired and I think that's the best part about traveling just in general. But design. You just see so many things that you're not gonna see without actually being there. Yeah, Well, I love being in your mind and seeing all this creative design work that you guys come, especially when you do like the walls of photos. I love those memories that you can cherish forever. Yeah, the family walls are important because it's a way to express your and show who you are. Yeah, well, thank you for showing us who you are and bringing this here today.
