Ford has teamed up with gig-economy start-up Postmates to develop its autonomous vehicle technology. Ford’s VP of autonomous vehicles and electrification told Cheddar he hopes to learn exactly how self-driving cars can be used. “We’re going to learn how the different forms of things that are being delivered work with AVs,” Sherif Marakby said. “Maybe some things work perfectly with autonomous vehicles, maybe some things don’t.” Postmates offers on-demand delivery from small businesses to area residents. Volkswagen and Hyundai recently announced a partnership with Aurora, an autonomous technology start-up, to roll out self driving vehicles.
