The National Eating Disorder Association has hired the staff of its helpline, excuse me, fired an A I chatbot named Tessa is going to replace them as of next Thursday. While workers wrote in a blog post that they received the news just four days after successfully unionizing officials from the organization told NPR, the decision was due to a legal liability from a growing number of calls causing longer wait times. They said the recent unionization had nothing to do with it. Well, the helpline associate and member of the union wrote in a blog post that the Eating disorder group claims this was a long anticipated change and that A I can better serve those with eating disorders but don't be fooled. It isn't really about a chat bot. It's about union busting plain and simple.
