So for two years they set up underwater microphones and recorders near three of New york's boroughs and New Jersey to listen in And here's what the team discovered new details about when and where these dolphins like to hunt like many human visitors coming to new york for its vibrant food scene. These animals may be increasingly attracted to the area. Thanks to its growing population of dolphins. Favorite fish scientists are urging more research to understand how dolphins and humans may come into contact. The summertime brings a spike in water activities, which could put marine life at risk. So here's how the study's lead author summed it up by investigating how marine predators such as bottlenose dolphins are behaving within heavily urbanized ecosystems. We can gain insight on how these predators influence and are influenced by their environment, which can be used to guide conservation efforts, mitigation measures and best practice recommendations. And dolphins may be exciting to see when you're out on the boat or hanging out by the water. But remember this is always so important.
