The wife of Mexican drug lord El Chapo Guzman is to be released from prison today, Emma Coronel Auro was arrested in 2021 over her role in her husband's drug empire and helping him escape from custody. In 2015, she pled guilty to willfully conspiring to distribute heroin, cocaine, marijuana, and methamphetamine. She also pled guilty to money laundering conspiracy. A charge on that count and engaging in transactions with a foreign narcotics trafficker. Ice is currently held at a low security facility near Long Beach, California and prosecutors initially sought a four year sentence but a district judge imposed a three year sentence saying her role is a small piece in a much larger organization.
