CEO and president of El Pollo Loco, Bernard Acoca, talked to Cheddar about the restaurant chain's campaign to recognize 11 chefs during Hispanic Heritage Month and why the company is highlighting Latinx chefs whose contributions often fly under the radar. "This is an issue that's very close to home: 80 percent of the employees that work at El Pollo Loco are Hispanic, 50 percent of the customers who visit every single day are Hispanic, and so we feel we have an obligation not only to our employees but to the communities that we serve to help play a role in addressing these kinds of issues," he said. Acoca noted the positive response the campaign has garnered from customers and the restaurant industry.
