After Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp went down for about six hours Monday, it became the platform’s longest outage since 2008. Rishi Bharwani, director of partnerships and policy at Accountable Tech, joined Cheddar to talk about the fallout from the outage, its causes, and whistleblower Frances Haugen testifying before Congress. He noted that while Facebook has come out and blamed the outage on a configuration change, it is not out of the realm of possibility that it was hacked. "Facebook is good at PR," he said. "No, I don’t buy it. I rarely buy anything that Facebook is selling nowadays."
